I worked at Martin-Baker Aircraft full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Work-life balance
    Low stress
    Great learning environment

    Cons

    Difficult to move up there

    Advice to Management

Loved working there, unfortunately ran out of room to grow and had to move on to advance my career.

    I worked at Martin-Baker Aircraft full-time

    Pros

An amazing industry, a varied job with great supplier and customer interaction and the work is really, really interesting. Lots of opportunities to travel if you want them. Half day on Fridays too!

    Cons

Male, pale and stale as they say. Poor progression opportunities - lots of favouritism, mindset stuck in the 70s and no strategic thinking with projects and allocation of resource, also eternally under resourced in key areas. The offices and buildings are pretty poor - not even kitchen/sink facilities in some depts!

    Advice to Management

As a family run business it needs support from people with more commercially focused backgrounds. Invest in personal development and progression and enforce it and get rid of the dead wood. Also, salaries should reflect the proximity to London or you will only ever recruit people stuck in a rut.

I have been working at Martin-Baker Aircraft full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits like Holidays, Pension and time off for Doctors and Dentist etc.

    Cons

They persue to hire off the peg 'NEW 'mangement in middle managers roles which causes a vacuum for experience and expertise in Quality.

Scope for progression and training is virtually zero for an Aircraft company.

    Advice to Management

Promote more from within as workers have the key expertise and experience to deal with the demands within this company as this is not you every day kind of product.
