I worked at Martin Preferred Foods full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Hard working sales group and loyal warehouse staff. Clean work environment. Very efficient in its process.

    Cons

Very little mobility laterally or towards management positions. Needs to update software so sales can work efficiently.

    Advice to Management

Request more feedback from solid sales people or long time employee on needed improvement from their position. Make sure room for growth for all positions insure low turnovers. Better software that accurately show inventory.

I have been working at Martin Preferred Foods full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pros? Yeah right. Well they have some good drivers but those drivers don't like doing different routes like Jose and I.

    Cons

Power tripping management, behind the times on technology, warehouse, shipping and transportation departments need to talk with each other more, even the time clock is 8 yrs out of date. Routes are always out of whack, warehouse doesn't wrap pallets well. More work, less money.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your driver's. Transportation management and the way the warehouse loads my truck is the reason am actively looking for a new job. John

    Pros

I was there for several years - It had it's great times when it was still growing. CEO Mike Tapick is a good business man. A lot of great people work here. A lot of hardworking people.

    Cons

Once his son took over it went downhill. A lot of layoffs. No appreciation for loyal employees. A lot of powertrips. Hired too many alphas at once. Pay is not great. A lot of favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your biggest resource - your people.

    Pros

Good pay, some good people, donut every Friday

    Cons

Pins and Needle atmosphere, some good people but negative atmosphere, way behind the times and not willing to invest.

    Advice to Management

Have a clue as to what you are trying to do!

    Pros

Plant people are nice. Office culture is good.

    Cons

There's alot of people on power trips. Salaries are not great. They overwork the hardworking people.

    Advice to Management

Have a tougher hiring process where you find people that actually fit into company culture. In the end, hiring too many of the wrong people change company culture entirely.
