I worked at Maryhaven Center of Hope part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Working with the individuals is a very rewarding job. The benefits were great.

    Cons

The pay was terrible I could make more in the grocery store than for all the responsibility that you are given at this agency. The clients are not really able to make any true progress and are stuck in same house for a very long time. A select few will move to a more independent setting. Employees are set up to take the fall for senior management.

    Advice to Management

Support your employees. Ask why so many are leaving. Give more money that is part of the problem. An employee can make more working in the a deli can make more than your DSPs.

    Pros

    Benefits are second to none

    Cons

Horrible pay. Lack of formal training. Some supervisors are nasty and demeaning. Very discouraging work environment

Learn some people skills! You might be surprised by how much more productive your staff would be if you gave them some encouragement and support rather than criticism and negative remarks.
