I worked at Maryland Transit Administration full-time

    Pros

Work has a purpose - providing transportation to the greater Baltimore region. You're given lots of responsibility and learn a lot about the industry as well as working in government. Very large agency so there is room to grow and move up.

    Cons

Lots of turnover, especially after elections. There also seemed to be a good number or people who didn't have any work to do/didn't do their work, and those who were completely overworked had to make up for it. Politics from whoever is in office can be frustrating. Transit has been neglected for years in Baltimore City, so it is hard working somewhere where there are so many problems, and not enough money for solutions.

    Pros

Benefits. That's it. And you will meet a bunch of people other than that worst place I ever been employed

    Cons

    Everything Everything Everything Everything Everything
    Everything Everything Everything Everything Everything
Union is corrupted. MTA does not pay overtime correctly at all.

    Advice to Management

Treat operator with respect. If it wasn't for the operator the bus system would be a mess. They are the backbone to the company. And the way they treat them as if they don't need or care about them

    Pros

The MTA is a government agency with multiple positions. Once you get in, you can continue to move up the ladder. The offer on the job training, tuition reimbursement and college credits from MTA University.

    Cons

Unfortunately working for the government means that when your state is in a budget crisis's, raises will stop sometimes for years.

    Advice to Management

Continue to provide educational training and development of your employees. That is just one of the wonderful benefits of being an MTA employee
