I have been working at Masabi full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Friendly and smart people, with none of that corporate bs. Senior management wear flip flops to work and are very grounded. The product keeps expanding in terms of features and new markets. Good work life balance with flexi time and an employee centred WFH policy. The office is not too bad either, and loving all the free snacks and drinks. You get autonomy and the can make a difference if desired. Management... recently showed they are not afraid to make tough decisions if it's for the best of the company. Great support policy for Mental Health issues.

    Cons

Lack of private healthcare and sudden changes in strategy as the product keeps growing. Engineering and Product slightly privileged, but guess it's a tech company so maybe it's normal.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in your people (e.g. more opportunities to learn life skills like the School of Life talks from last year, or anything similar) and keep the culture as the company grows.

I have been working at Masabi full-time

    Pros

Great culture, little bureaucracy, wonderful positive energy, great people.

    Cons

Has been a little disorganised, especially a few years ago when we were trying to scale up from a startup to a more mature company, but we're working on that.

    Advice to Management

Don't lose Masabi's great startup culture as the company grows and becomes more mature.

I worked at Masabi full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Relaxed culture, support from management, non blame culture

    Cons

Engineering run the company, little value given to other teams - World football's governing body said after a "thorough and comprehensive consultation process" the change "could not be made now".

I have been working at Masabi full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Very nice culture and talented people in all teams. Opportunities to experiment and try out new and cutting edge tools. Chances to suggest radical changes and "revolutionary" solutions which will be definitely heard even if you are a junior.

    Cons

The company is still not 100% established and has a young startup vibe, so lots of changes, good or bad, can and will happen as they have in short lapses of time (i.e a year). Key players in specific teams or just one management change can totally shift the team's goals and vision/priorities which can be upsetting if you joined in because you liked the former.

    Advice to Management

Try to prioritize having more established processes that will be followed and adapted as the norm, while maintaining a good amount of freedom and autonomy (not any extremes are good). Analyse how other peer companies are structuring similar teams and how do they approach specific technical challenges, for example, to make sure you're not going with an odd or potentially unlikable team vision, which could hurt or... impact turnover rates.

    I worked at Masabi full-time

    Pros

Great tech company, progressive and up to date, amazing product and a lot smart and funny people to work with

    Cons

Senior management changed and now instead of caring for employees, the importance is given only to money. Still relatively small, but starts to be more hierarchical than bigger companies, with some VPs and Heads (or HR) never around and completely not in touch with what is going on (but in at least one case trying to micromanage without knowing what they are talking about) Every single promise from... management gets broken, including "we are not moving your jobs abroad" Favouritism is everywhere

    I worked at Masabi full-time

    Pros

The best place I worked so far. Tech is mature enough to deal with current challenges. People are helpful. Interesting projects.

    Cons

Set goals are hard to reach with current tech. Very different work experience, depending on your team. Turnover is high. The London office is crowded.

    Advice to Management

It's a tech company, focus on tech. Keep talented people.

I have been working at Masabi full-time

    Pros

I really enjoy working at Masabi. Partly because I buy into the vision of what we are doing and partly because of how I am treated both in my local team and also by the larger group. I have had huge career moves here and feel super supported as I grow into different spaces of the business.

    Cons

Things can sometimes get challenging because the work is complex, but in this environment, I find I am learning so much so wouldn't have it any other way tbh. Benefits could be a bit better but the package doesn't suck.

    Advice to Management

Continue the work to vocalise the strategy, this is helpful.
