I worked at Masco Contractor Services full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great direct co-workers! Good potential for income. Great benefits. Since it's the construction industry, you get a chance to work on many different projects.

    Cons

High stress. Senior management is out of touch, trying to direct their divisions from report data, often inaccurate from their desks in Florida. Long hours if you do want to make good income. Immense amounts of corporate interference and red tape. Crazy hiring standards and practices for a construction based company.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time in your divisions and get to know your people and the markets they work in. You can only do so much from your desk in Daytona. Someone learn how to tell the CEO he is wrong every now and then. Loosen up the restraints and allow your vast amounts of talented people to help you succeed….get out of their way.

I worked at Masco Contractor Services

    Pros

Worked with good people all of whom were success driven. We all took care of each other with the ultimate goal of being the best in the market.

    Cons

Very long hours. Upper management tended to micro-manage with more concern for reports than providing tools for success. Also, management wants one size to fit all seemly not taking into account that each market is different.

    Advice to Management

Remember that you are a construction company, not McDonald's. Allow division managers to make decisions based on their market.

I have been working at Masco Contractor Services full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Benefits - Non Recoverable Draw (while building book of business) - Some Ability to Advance Career

    Cons

    - No Sales Training - Low Base Pay - Long Hours (7 am - 6 pm) - Low Commission Percentage

    Advice to Management

Pay your people what they're worth. You are losing great people to other companies who are willing to pay their employees the money they need to provide for their families.
