I have been working at Mashable full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great snacks in the kitchen! Beer even! And most of the people are wonderful. It's only upper management that are the problem.

    Cons

All those talented people are super under utilized. Upper management is clueless about what to do with this company. There was a big layoff in April 2016, and as many people have left since then. Morale is down. But maybe Pete Cashmore will figure out how to steer this ship around.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees! And figure out an actual voice for this company.

    I worked at Mashable

    Pros

It is a nice office and there are some good people who work there

As a white man I was in an interesting position to hear how management would talk about women and POC employees behind their backs. When I called this out to my superior and to HR I was dismissed. I witnessed so many talented people leave this company because they were treated poorly....

I worked at Mashable for less than a year

    Pros

When I started at Mashable, many people were putting out excellent work at high editorial standards. Many people were young, and Mashable was their first major job. A lot of those people emulated great writers at established publications, and because of that the bar was set pretty high.

    Cons

At some point, management began to change and so too did the direction of the company. Over the course of a few months, many excellent people left and were replaced with people who didn't serve the brand well. Goals and objectives became less and less clear as public profile of the company grew. Management shifted focus to nearsighted goals rather than long-term raising of prestige. Mashable is now a shadow of its former...

    Advice to Management

Open up communication and listen to people rising through ranks, rather than hiring in new managers who know little about the corporate culture and chemistry with their own agendas.
