I have been working at Mashable full-time

    Pros

-Snacks -good location -unlimited vacay (for now)

    Cons

-no direction -new management seems to be even more clueless that previous management -no interest in the growth or advancement of their employees -lack of diversity -every decision the company makes with regards to anything seems to rely solely on how they can leverage it to sell garbag to advertisers for a quick dollar.

    Advice to Management

You know when your parents get a new iPhone but don’t know how to use any of the cool features and don’t really care to learn because they’re old? That’s basiclly what Ziff Davis did when they came in and purchased Mashable. So my advice to management would be that they should take the time to understand what made Mashable so great in the first place and prioritize new/innovative ideas, rather than just implement old...

    I worked at Mashable

    Pros

It is a nice office and there are some good people who work there

    Cons

The lack of diversity in upper management is downright embarrassing. Female and POC employees are working in an outright hostile environment. As a white man I was in an interesting position to hear how management would talk about women and POC employees behind their backs. When I called this out to my superior and to HR I was dismissed. I witnessed so many talented people leave...

    Pros

Snacks. Um snacks. Free water? And a roof top (no one uses)?

    Cons

Racist, misogynistic, white, white WHITE upper management. Do we need to really hash out @mashablecancels to get the overall scope of just how bad it's become? There was a time when we believed Mashable cared about diversity. Deplorable human resources once said she "understood what it's like being a minority, I was the only Jew growing up in Chicago." Like, no. That's the problem with having an egregious lack...

I'd say to really hire diversely. Do whatever it takes to retain good talent. You're better than this, Pete! Stop being checked out! Rooting for you.

    I worked at Mashable

    Pros

-Fun and generally relaxed work environment -Friendly employees -Managers and coworkers take the time to get to know you -Very learning oriented -Overall an amazing place to intern, the office environment is never dull and all the people that work there are full of creative energy

    Cons

-The workplace can be a little cliquey, be prepared to be social and outgoing if you want to have a a worthwhile experience -Although they are making efforts to improve this, a lack of diversity is still an issue

    Advice to Management

-While having an organized internship project is a great wait to foster connections and camaraderie among interns, it becomes too much of a hassle as interns take on more responsibilities later on in the program

I have been working at Mashable

    Pros

Good place to learn more about digital and social. Mostly awesome staff.

    Cons

It's appalling and a little disconcerting that Mashable has a race problem. I'll say it again. A race problem. The mostly white staff has a serious lack of diversity and hiring practices. Worse, there's a pattern of retention with its remaining staff who are of color. In the past three months alone 3 staffers of color were either let go or left the company.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to diversify and do so quickly. It's very alarming that the small number of minorities are being dismissed or jumping ship. Not a good sign for a company who wants to become global and seems to care about diverse issues.
