I have been working at Mason General Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people working there care about patients and try to make patients as happy as they can.

    Cons

Sometimes there is lack of communication, and the EMR is extremely problematic

    Advice to Management

Maybe try a team building seminar with team exercises to help build better communication and team work

I worked at Mason General Hospital part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some really dedicated and nice employee's. Good pay for a small town. Really great place to work if brown nosing is your thing.

    Cons

They expect full time results on a part time basis. Preach positive workforce environment, but don't walk there talk. Small town thinking that will find a way to undermine you if you are a strong leader or you make a volunteer upset. You are beholden to the commissioner's. They also try to change the terms of employment that they agree to in your interview.

    Advice to Management

Stop being demanding and micromanaging. Employees can't be expected to understand the culture, time keeping, hours, kronos without instructions. If you promise flexibility, then deliver on that! Part time means that someone in a management position can only work part time. Practice patience and know that managers are meant to be independent and manage priorities in the allotted time. Especially when managing over 70 people.

I have been working at Mason General Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A lot of respect for my knowledge and abilities. fun and good group of people to work with. very little to No my micro management from my director. Great Team work. Part of the team.

    Cons

medical industry is taking away the expectation and ability to have critical thinking skills. getting to the point of over regulation which can get in the way of great patient care.

    Advice to Management

I come to work everyday expecting (hoping) to learn something new.... Instead of creating policy because of mistakes that are made, lets create expectations and educate.

I have been working at Mason General Hospital full-time

    Pros

Good pay, friendly people, great cafe, dedicated/passionate patient care teams

    Cons

A lot of relatives working along side one another, too many power-trippers, a lot of gossip from those that preach "no gossiping".

    Advice to Management

Watch who is really running the show because it isn't the CEO.
