I worked at Massage Heights full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great coworkers and work environment when the boss was NOT present Free 1 Massage/ Or Facial A month

    Cons

During COVID 19 he said the only employees he wants back are the ones who "took initiative" and reached out to HIM instead of telling his employees they were planning to open. Who does that during a worldwide crisis ?? They do not care about any of their employees They play favorites, disgusting how they treat their " family" No training at my specific location The owner is a horrible boss and will do anything to avoid taking responsibility. Hours are always random, never consistent making it impossible for employees to have good work/life balance. Which leads to burnout/high turnover. All of their staff in the front has been there a year or less for a reason. There are no consequences for anyone calling out, it happens all the time and would leave me up at the front for HOURS by myself, they are severely understaffed and need a reality check. They don't pay their staff enough, no structure or training. No one ever feels accomplished or successful. After all the times I stayed late, covered shifts, came in early, tried my absolute best to just be thrown away because I'm young? Awful.

I have been working at Massage Heights full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Learned sales techniques. Flexible schedule.

    Cons

The manager was a control freak who used a lot of negative reinforcement to try and get sales up. It was always a numbers game and if you weren’t performing well, she would passively bully you. Many coworkers of mine were bullied until they got fed up and quit on their own. In addition, I was promised a full time position and was given less than 30 hours regularly.

Massage therapy can become tiring and clients aren’t always great. You’re income is subject to your ability and return clients

I worked at Massage Heights part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Corporate has a good model. The corporate people are decent.

    Cons

Location is everything when you work for a corporate franchise. Sea Girt, NJ is the place for you if you love drama, peaked in high school, and enjoy subterfuge. Management is unprofessional, incompetent, and might just cost someone their license someday. They do not know the industry at all. Policies constantly change and management acts as if they don't. Be ready for manipulative behavior from anyone on staff. And I strongly suggest meeting the actual owners before agreeing to work there. You're going to want to Google them. And use the image search. Management is overly emotional and unable to make sound business decisions that require objectivity. The staff doesn't respect ownership. Not that they even deserve it. But, when leaders aren't doing what management asks them to do, no one else will. And they don't. Standards are only upheld when corporate comes for a visit. I suggest corporate not give warning when they secret shop or plan to visit. As far as co-workers go, it's better if you're a party person. They don't like people who are straight laced. And really don't like it if you don't attend social events. Just be prepared that the manager will attend these events and has gotten tipsy and drunk at such events. Extremely unprofessional. She wants to be everyone's friend instead of act like a real boss. I could go on, but I think that's enough.
