I have been working at Massage Luxe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

No behind the scenes drama. Management is very professional in my experience with both clients and employees. Coworkers are friendly. Busy location so lots of clients. They really want you to focus on the clients needs and not worry about upselling. And they don't pressure you to rush the clients in and out.the client intake forms are pretty straight forward and simple so it doesn't take long for a new client to fill it out. The massage rooms are spacious. The owners seem quick to get things working smoothly when there is an issue with the system or scheduling. They offer the employees service discounts there that are really good so love that. The benefits for full time they offer health dental and vision. It is a w2 so you are an employee not a contractor. They supply everything but the uniform.

    Cons

The front desk staff is friendly but it seems like they come and go quickly, so there seems to be some minor client appointment errors that can usually be fixed pretty quick. Being an appointment based business it is a bit harder to request time off. you are told to give at least 30 days notice for vacation time or planned time off. if you get sick or emergencies pop up, but you are generally reliable, show you are eager to work, try to give a heads up when you need time off, and don't make it a habit, then they really try to work with you on emergency situations and sick time. On the weekends it tends to be really busy and they have a lot of therapists bouncing from room to room all day so it can sometimes be confusing. There is no built in 401k.

    Advice to Management

The only advise i have for management is maybe working with the front desk on making sure clients are not coming in with colds and flu as this presents a high risk environment not only for the sick client but also all the other clients and employees who may or may not have a compromised immune system or underlying illness that could be made worse by a simple cold or flu exposure. So maybe training on how to properly educate these clients before they come in on the risks of coming in and getting a service when sick.

I have been working at Massage Luxe part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

flexible schedule, fun coworkers, good staff

    Cons

some policies are bad and screw over the therapist like not charging clients if they cancel regardless of how close to appointment time, if its the client's first offense.

I worked at Massage Luxe full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people I worked with were the ONLY reason I kept coming to work everyday.

    Cons

The owners were rude, overbearing, judgmental, and made me feel like I was walking on egg shells around them. They would also judge customers, if a customer could not afford to sign up for a monthly membership they would say we don't want people like that anyways. If a customer needed to cancel because of a car accident we were not allowed to not charge them for their appointment. The owners would say " What kind of person cant get their life together and cancel within 2 hours". If their was any mistakes made by a receptionist he would come in and start saying what the hell this job isn't that hard. He would make everyone feel bad. Some girls were so stressed out working there just because of the way he would react to a small mistake. I've seen girls cry because of the way he talks to them. Both of the owners think that they are better than everyone, and they make that very clear. I've personally heard them bad mouth their own clients. They talk so much crap about the people who literally keep them in business. The only time someone is treated with 100% respect there is if they spend a crap load of money on massages and facials. They are bad people. They don't care if a customer has just gotten into a car accident on the way to their appointment, they will still charge them. They do not care about the customers, only the money.

I worked at Massage Luxe (Less than a year)

    Pros

quiet place, close to where I live, most of the clients are good

    Cons

Owner / Manager in incompetent, this is clear when you see their business decisions, how they treat employees, turnover is high, all signs of incompetency

Massages are often short and since there is constant turnover whatever you get get will change the following month again continuity lacks and your massage and expectations will must be changed each month

Old machines, whenever you need a machine for your treatment it will make all kinds noise and sometimes not even work and the technician must makes excuses out of shame. Again this reflects incompetency on part of ownership

Turnover is really high, I worked there for a year and saw three complete new team of people, not counting ones or twos which also came and left. Again how can you build and plan career or have good service.

Clean salon: This is very hard for me, when you go for treatments you look you can see equipment is not clean, the cabinets are not wiped down either.

Tips magical disappeared, often times the clients left me tips which disappeared, or they just added them into my hourly rate which is not allowed

Salary hourly pay was never clear, my pay changed often and whenever I questioned it they would say : Oh, didn't you know that is additional pay for you" But the six months before none was given to me.. often tips were included as part of the pay which should be separate.

Clients are treated bad often they realized how poor quality the materials are then leave

    Advice to Management

whatever advice I would give they would ignore it... so none

I have been working at Massage Luxe full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Easy, positive work environment, love the people I work with

    Cons

You’re evaluated based on how many memberships you sell and the amount of commission is a puny fraction of how much money the company is actually making and there’s a lot of attention to detail pay is not much

    Advice to Management

Work on placing better or more incentives towards the employees and it would not hurt to have some sort of employee appreciation programs or functions in place
