I worked at Massage Retreat & Spa full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Health insurance is good but that's about it.

    Cons

Bad management. Current manager has been fired for committing time fraud literally and comping out her own services. The assistant manager even bagged for them not to rehire her but they did anyways! Not surprised they are best friends now even though she did not want her to come back. Not only are they unprofessional they play favorites with certain people. They gossip, tell other employees PERSONAL information about...

I worked at Massage Retreat & Spa for less than a year

    Pros

Booked most of the time in a high traffic area

    Cons

Horrible treatment of massage therapists, under paid and over work. Poor management communication , front desk is rude and often looses clients

    Advice to Management

Pay your massage therapists higher than $16 to start and if your lucky, $20 tops.

I worked at Massage Retreat & Spa full-time

    Pros

You get a free massage when you start.

    Cons

Worked in Corporate. Worst environment ever, the owner is a pig. Super rude staff, stuck up and not helpful at all starting out. When looking for candidates to hire, staff was making comments on whether they were "hot or not" and how old they were, totally discriminating which is disgusting, especially coming from the Owner and HR. Don't be a part of this company. Misleading expectations and no communication .

I have been working at Massage Retreat & Spa full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great coworkers. Very laid back. No pressure to sell a certain amount. Free membership when you are full time. Discounts on products and advanced skin services. Uses dermalogica for the treatment room. Many different treatments to do on your clients so it’s a different type of service all the time, it makes it easier not doing the same thing all day. Love my clients and I’ve grown to be very close to a lot of them.

    Cons

Commission based (only getting paid when in service with a client). There is no base pay to compensate you for being there with no client. The wax is OK to use, does the job but nothing more. Paychecks have been messed up numerous times.

    Advice to Management

It switches so fast, it’s not even worth remembering anyone’s name at the front desk (AKA management)

I worked at Massage Retreat & Spa

    Pros

%50 off products. Miss my faithful wonderful clients. Got to use Beelicious hard wax

    Cons

Maybe 7 hrs of my 40hrs scheduled were filed with appointments. It was mandatory to stay and clean with out pay or make 25 phone calls for 10$ hr. I was promised that i could take all the IDI classes I wanted even on days scheduled if there were no appointments yet for that day. That was the main reason I chose this company. The gm became passive aggressive. Very unprofessional work ethic.. She believed that she was...

I have been working at Massage Retreat & Spa

    Pros

Coworkers were nice. Dermologica is a great brand. Clients are friendly. I'm just trying to think of things to fill the minimum requirement.

    Cons

Beware: Lee, the owner, must be the greediest man on earth to pay the therapists who work there the lowest in the business. Every. Single. One of my paychecks was off. By a lot. Whose pocketing that money? They cut corners in every way. Push you to upgrade and sell products with a very low commission. The list goes on. Employees are generally extremely underpaid, and ultimately unhappy. And, as you would assume with...

I have been working at Massage Retreat & Spa full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The employee's here are so welcoming, in the short month and a half that I've been here I've made some wonderful acquaintances. I love seeing regular clients and I've gotten to know quite

    Cons

Kind of hard to live off of the pay offered. Closing by myself and being alone on shifts is very stressful because there's so much to do and remember. It'd also be nice to be shown more appreciation or when our accomplishments go unnoticed.

    Advice to Management

Big dog should be coming in more often and uprise our esteems when we accomplish something big.
