I have been working at Massdrop full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company is working on some AWESOME things currently and everyone is able to have a hand on it. Company is big enough to have some infrastructure in place, but small enough to come in and make an impact. Co-workers genuinely seem to enjoy what they're working on.... Massdrop is about enthusiasts and passionate communities after all :)

    Cons

A lot of first-timers on exec and management teams. Also, the company pivoted a bit, which isn't necessarily a con (as it will be the driving factor of revenue moving forward), but rather an adjustment.

I worked at Massdrop full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are a lot of great people here who work hard with their head down and show potential to help move projects forward. The company has a good track record of hiring talented people. Also, their office is in the heart of the city, next to the Transamerica Pyramid.

    Cons

Tons of politics and favoritism, especially among the veterans. The louder you are, the more attention you get. It's awful when good people leave before they're able to show what they can contribute. Senior leaders have a lot of new ideas to grow and strengthen their teams but are given very few resources.

    Advice to Management

Company surveys are helpful, but talk to employees directly (especially the quiet ones) to create a more personable work experience. Even if you don't have an office, keep an "open door policy" by reaching out first.

I have been working at Massdrop full-time

    Pros

Lots of beverages and snacks. People are generally nice. A bunch of gadgets and samples to toy with at the office.

    Cons

Company needs to be more transparent. Message from management often contradicted their actions. At times, board, CEO, and management didn't explicitly define company and team goals leading to conflicts in deliverables at the individual level.

    Advice to Management

Set more explicit goals and deliverables. More emphasis on accountability.

I worked at Massdrop full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - SOME people
    - Benefits
    - Location
    - Flexible schedules if your department allows
    - "Unlimited" time off policy
    - Latest tech

    Cons

    - Management does not really care about its employees and treats them like they are easily replaceable
    - Absolutely no recognition for great work
    - Even though there's an unlimited time off policy, your team is less than bare bones so you can't actually afford to take time off without drowning your team in work or getting triple the amount of work when you get back
    - Everyone likes to "point fingers" at other teams so there is no solidarity or teamwork on working to find a better solution
    - Management and the CEO turn a blind eye to any issue you bring up until it's too late. Then it turns into an "I told you so" moment
    - You are only seen as valuable to the company if you make them money, everyone else is last priority
    - No real consequences if you do anything wrong. If you make the company money, it's a slap on the wrist, if you're anyone else, PIP then good-bye.
    - Lack of great or even good leaders across the board

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees who actually do the work.

    I worked at Massdrop full-time

    Pros

Very interesting place to work. Would recommend for anyone who likes products or cool things.

    Cons

You will work a lot more than you think. This is good, since you'll get a lot done, but you have to make the call as to whether or not it's worth it.

    Advice to Management

Companies work out when everyone cares about what they are doing. If people don't really care, everything falls apart.

I have been working at Massdrop full-time

    Pros

    - Great coworkers
    - Decent perks
    - Flexible schedule

    Cons

    - Long hours and low pay
    - Young and inexperienced CEO, Management, Advisor
    - Receive a “pat on the back” for good work (IF recognized), no incentives
    - HR has not improved morale and does not care about employee’s issues
    - High amount of politics for a small company

    Advice to Management

I have none - they won’t listen anyway and think they know better.

    Pros

Great culture, great engineering team - many top notch ex Zynga. Tons of work and growth

    Cons

Early still, risky. Lots of re-org in other departments, still learning the right process.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your Employees, they'll take care of Customers, and customers will take care of your investors.
