I worked at Mastro's Steakhouse part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Potential to make $$$, Great co-workers and management, Consistently busy, organized detail-oriented.

    Cons

Low morale. Became super-corporate when Landry's took over. Sad to see an iconic "luxury brand" cheapened this way.

    Advice to Management

Hang in there or find somewhere you're valued.

I worked at Mastro's Steakhouse part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Commitment to excellence. Mastro's has always ran at or above 99% perfection. I had the honor to work with them in a variety of positions. I am proud to have been part of that organization.

    Cons

There are really no cons that I can think of. For the foodie in me, I wish they were open for lunch.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. You have set the bar high for the competition.

I worked at Mastro's Steakhouse full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This really used to be one of the best restaurants in the US to work at. But WARNING: It has been bought by the greediest, most incompetent restauranteur in the US. He owns such industry heavyweights as Bubba Gump Shrimp and Claim Jumper. Thanks for ruining what we built. A BILLIONAIRE is now opening on Thanksgiving so he can suck a few thousand out of his employees.Management is leaving in droves. It's a sinking ship. Steer clear..

    Cons

All management and ownership are incompetent

    Advice to Management

Get new jobs before you are in shackles working his fields

    Pros

Great place to work. Hard work, but definitely a great place to further a career in hospitality.

    Cons

Working at Mastro's can be hectic at times, like running a night club. For those that want a traditional managerial role, this is not your place.

    Advice to Management

    none

I worked at Mastro's Steakhouse full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great product, beautiful restaurant. Busy with a high check average.

    Cons

Managers treat you like a number, not a human being. They tell you that employees should treat each other as well as we treat guests. It's a lie. They either like you or they don't. You can ace every test, always be on time, perfect uniform, outstanding guest comments.....doesn't matter. If they don't like you, they never will and you'll never know why. Terrible employment experience.

    Advice to Management

Stop paying lip service to your company ideals and practice what you preach

    Cons

No tip sharing first 2 weeks of work, regardless if you outwork the entire restraunt.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to employee needs.
