    Pros

They company has a great atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and makes the office comfortable.

The US division isn't huge so you get to know pretty much everyone there.

They are really great at giving younger graduates an opportunity to start their careers and grow.

Pay isn't awful to start with.

Lots of opportunities for overtime if you stay busy and active and find things to do.

The products they offer and service are very unique and are doing great things, I don't feel afraid for my job like I have with other companies.

Room to grow, still a newer employee, but the opportunities to advance are their if you are willing to put the time and effort in.

Benefits are pretty good, plenty of PTO time and flexibility with schedule if you need it.

Opportunities to work from home on occasion given approval from your manager.

    Cons

There system they use is a little dated, but that's hopefully getting improved soon.

Having HQ in europe and people all over the place it can make certain things more difficult because of time differences.

Pay could be more, but its also not awful

aspects of the company and work flow are disorganized and cause more hassle and effort, but we're working on that

    Pros

    Interesting and promising technology.
    Fresh college graduates friendly.
A wonderful place to stay if you do not care about fair compensation, which means that if you just want to contribute to the wealth of the share holders.

    Cons

A strange, huge mom-and-pop shop with more than 1000 employees.
    Did I mention low pay?
    and low pay increases?

    Advice to Management

Think twice before you say "Employees are our most valuable asset," and ask yourself "do I really believe it?"

    Pros

If you live close by there are nice places to go to lunch. Some of the people seemed like they were nice.

    Cons

HR was horrible. It was like having Dr. Jekyl and Mr.Hyde...you never knew who you were going to get. Existed just to pacify management.

    Advice to Management

Don't trust those around you. Expect more from your leaders. Marketing was sub par.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Materialise full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good experience
Understands that family comes first (sometimes)

    Cons

Noncompetitive pay, which has created a talent vacuum with a huge turnover rate. They ask everyone to keep their wages a secret because if everyone knew of the rampant wage inequality that goes on there half the people would quit. The fact that poorly paid hourly production staff are looked down on by the almost as poorly paid salaried sales and engineering types doesn't help.
Very hard to actually get things done. Seemingly minor tasks take a thousand times longer due to everything having to be run through Belgium.
Lots of promises of advancement, pay increases, etc that never materialize (pun intended).
Poorly trained inexperienced production staff(due to high turnover), especially considering the high tech (expensive) nature of 3d-printing. Be prepared to figure everything out on your own....
Constant nagging for improvement by out of touch management although processes and equipment are inefficient and orders are consistently low. I was told to get my job done faster so I could then be the janitor and mop the floors and dust....
Company buys used, cheap equipment and machines that cause headaches and delays.
Out of touch management at all levels. They try and make nice with the employees with a boxed lunch every once and awhile but thats as good of a gesture you're ever going to get out of this company.
Gossip is rampant among the small staff.
Late hours and weekends(somehow with little actual overtime) due to everyone figuring things out as they go along.........
Will keep you on as a contract employee as long as possible in order to get all of the work from you with zero of the benefits from them.

    Advice to Management

I hope you have a plan-B once your competitors start printing their own parts now that 3d-printing hardware is more widespread and affordable.

I have been working at Materialise full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Smart and driven colleagues; most of them are very eager to make a change for the positive and to make the world a better place with Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing technology. The companies' products are innovative and reliable. There is lots of freedom to evolve professionally up to mid-management level. In general, I experienced the management to take my advises seriously.

    Cons

There are a few long-term employees that are completely resistant to change. They are really hard to work with. There is somewhat of a lack of structure, it is sometimes a little chaotic and the pay is really not marked compatible. One thing that became obvious after a couple of years is that there are limited growing opportunities for non-Belgians. To my best knowledge, there are 0 non-Belgians in the top 20 leading roles. This is mostly contributed by the fact that the company was started as a family business where their former employees now hold all the leading roles.

    - Friendly colleagues
    - Happy working environment

    Cons

    No concern as of now

    Advice to Management

Some employees comment about compensation. It will be good for management to look into it although not all people is having this concern.

There is improvement going on and I would like to see the positive outcome.

    Cons

    - Despite HR efforts to improve employees' career growth many people leave because of a lack of visibility on career track, promotions, etc...
