    Don’t do it

    Pros

The students are amazing—they’re the only reason I stayed with this company for so long. I have never had such a rewarding position in my life. Being able to help students and build their confidence is a great feeling.

    Cons

I worked for a franchised location and a corporate location. The franchisees are way worse than corporate. My former boss was a nightmare. As an AD, I witnessed her micromanage everyone (including me) to the point of exhaustion. She treated the instructors like they were nothing and expected me to do the same. I’ve never worked for someone so self-centered. HQ came to visit us one day and she threatened us to be on our best behavior. She gives no consideration to the mental health of others. I was reprimanded for letting a coworker take a short break because she had a panic attack; I was later reprimanded as well for taking time off due to a severe medical emergency because it inconvenienced her. Be careful who you work for. The parents loved her but they had no idea who she was behind closed doors. The fake saccharine sweet attitude can only get you so far. If you want to be successful, show your employees that you care about them, that they’re more than just your cheap labor.
