    Pros

The benefits package was terrific. Great paid time off. Also, there are many offices, around the country. They will pay for relocating to another area of the country. Human Resources on the east coast of the country is very helpful and nice to work with.

    Cons

The corporate office is ruthless in aquiring new companies. It is a shame that they will buy out a company with actual intergritiy and lay everyone off and leave a former shell of what the company was. Also, a few employees are very sleezy and have promoted skirt chasers.

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach. Everyone has value in a company.

    Cons

hours are really hard to do no life outside of work. hard to juggle family life and kids daily schedules.

    Advice to Management

we need better benefits for people who have been with the company for a long time. Should not have to start medical over as much as we do.

Keep the same people on a crew as long as possible. This results in efficiency and positive crew member responses.

I worked at Matrix Service full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There is a lot of commodity between the estimators. I enjoy coming to work as I work with a great bunch of individuals that make every day unique and rewarding. I enjoy the take-off work and complexity of constructability issues, which is different on every project we bid. We are growing our EPC work and it is very rewarding to see you hard work pay off. Matrix does not usually require overtime for the estimating department, not to say that we don’t work overtime. It makes it very nice to have most weekends off.

    Cons

The direct management seems to overlook your contribution to the company. Great benefits, pay is below industry.

    Advice to Management

My advice, don’t forget those that put you in your current position with the work that you have currently.

The company is good to work for and the work life balance is great. Senior management is open and willing to hear out different ideas

    Cons

The company is stuck in a lot of processing work. A lot of time is devoted to producing reports for management to review

    Advice to Management

    No advise

I worked at Matrix Service full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good working environment, treated employees well. Spent lots of time training employees in various new programs that were constantly rolled out with new company objectives.

    Cons

Didn't have a real sense of direction or strong leadership on where the company was headed. Wanted to do everything and only excelled in a few core areas. Local leadership was very poor, they hired a few people that bounced around and listened to ideas they had. These new ideas took them away from their core skills and offerings, which ultimately hurt them.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, stop trying to reinvent the wheel and stay focused on what built the company over the years. Stop trying to be a company that you came from.

Salary is not very good. As a oil company service provider, they have the limitation when oil price goes down they are also in bad condition.

I have been working at Matrix Service full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay, health coverage, bonuses, good fit for some, others fall between the cracks.

    Cons

People are Overworked, everything is last minute, very disorganzied work place. Shallow corporate mentality , just another number. I can't say that much more about it because it such a large company. My experience has been mostly negative. I've been told that I would need to relocate or travel to move up, they have provided me with zero training in the year I've been there. The health care is not great. Things seem to be getting better but I don't know it's worth staying where I'm at. No real opportunity, only those with a bachelor's degree or higher are successful in corporate world.

    Advice to Management

Be truthful in your hiring process. Don't say you don't know how much health care premiums are. Don't lie about the job, layoffs, or anything else. Just be honest. Give more raises, recognize hardwork and reward it.
