    Pros

No pros to the job. Everyone gets paid the same. No job titles at all. HR is a joke

    Cons

No movement. You get 30cent raise a year

    Advice to Management

They don't care. It's get down or lay down mentality

I worked at Matthews International (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A company with many people who want to not only do the right thing, but do it the right way.

    Cons

Understaffed in many areas. This precludes quick response and quick action. In fact, this leads to small turf wars over what initiative will "go first".

    Pros

There is a sense of unity at Matthews Granite. Staff meetings are weekly.
We are one of the divisions of Matthews, as they have several. The Granite division is growing, which is exciting. Always a lot of work to do to keep busy. Great hours and benefits are provided.

    Cons

When hired, the background check will take a week or more.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Matthews International full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The only "pro" I can see is their benefits package.
    The people are family.
We all deal with the same issues and I have become very close to them. Great team of people on site.

The location is great, just off the 101. There is a cafe and workout room available to employees and vendors (which you are a vendor on site). Plus there is underground parking.

    Cons

Lack of communication between parent company and on-sites, The throughput of work coming out of the sep house is very slow... as in weeks to do. This makes it very hard to face the client when you can't get answers.

Management listens to advice of a few people and ignores other professional opinions or they won't even involve you in discussions.

Extreme lack of ownership in the work. You will be asked technical questions that employees in their position should know.

    Very stressful work environment.

    Advice to Management

Don't forget to invest in older employees... experience will trump hiring cheaper employees in the long run.
