I have been working at Maui Jim full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As a company, Maui Jim does a fantastic job of supporting their employees and allowing them to grow within their positions and into new positions. I completed two sales and marketing internships after my sophomore and junior years of college. They allowed me to continue working a few hours a week from school as well, which really helped me enhance my organizational skills. The atmosphere is cohesive to the growth and support of our product and the lifestyle that it is marketed to advocate.

    Cons

As my job is 90% travel, that lifestyle can be stressful at times. However, managing a hectic schedule is something that I feel I can do because of my experience within the company. While it can be intense, it is also my favorite aspect of my position.

    Advice to Management

Please continue to support your employees, recognize their successes, and provide constructive criticism.

I worked at Maui Jim full-time

    Pros

Best lens in the industry. Customer service is great.

    Cons

Expectations for remote reps unrealistic. They don't allow for much creativity in the way you sell to accounts. Poor training for AEs.

I worked at Maui Jim full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice sunglasses, one of the best optical labs in the world and great customer service. Dating co-workers or employees is encouraged.

    Cons

Micro-management has lost focus. Sales are declining. Losing largest accounts. Increasing focus on CostCo, Vision Works and Academy Sports. All white HR department. Drastic cuts to sales force commission.

    Advice to Management

Move out of Peoria so you can attract better leaders in sales and marketing.

I worked at Maui Jim (More than a year)

    Pros

Although my internship with Maui Jim lasted less than a year, the culture and environment were extremely friendly and welcoming, and my department helped me gain valuable skills relevant to my career.

    Cons

The nature of my internship (I was traveling extensively) demanded long hours but was very rewarding. The majority of their positions offer stability but those wishing to be interns must have tremendous flexibility.

I have been working at Maui Jim full-time

    Pros

Maui Jim is an AMAZING company to work for. Many perks and they treat the employees well. Extensive training and orientation as well.

    Cons

If you enter in at entry level, it isn't the easiest to move or promote up.

    Advice to Management

Continue to treat your employees well. Also, listen to the concerns and issues of those who are the back bone of the company.

    Pros

Fun place to work and great atmosphere. The Aloha spirit is within all of the employees and everyone is very friendly to each other no matter what department you work for.

    Cons

I can't think of any major cons from the experience I had during the summer at Maui Jim. It overall was a great summer job for college students.

Keep the Aloha spirit strong within the company. Keep the fun perks of the summer job as well because it makes working full time more enjoyable.

I worked at Maui Jim (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great company and the experience you get as a corporate gifts "intern" is unmatched. They treat you with respect, give you the responsibilities of a full-time employee and allow you to travel and gain independence and life experience that you couldn't possibly gain in another position. The internship is extremely challenging but worth it! The company culture is also extremely fun and relaxed when you work in the office.

    Cons

Being a full-time travel position you need to take the semester off from school. The hours and days can be extremely long but it honestly is worth it.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up! All the staff, even the higher up management is extremely helpful and really wants to get to know everyone and is willing to help in any way possible.
