Pros
This company has an amazing culture that is hard to find and has great values! There is a lot of opportunities to grow and develop. Upper management is always asking for feedback from all positions and they work hard to recognize all employees at every level.
Cons
Because of District manager changes I have found it hard to establish myself with a person in upper management to support my career development.

Pros
40% discount incentives for employees training programs
Cons
poor management skills they open the door for sales associates to not respect you once your get on someone's garbage list, you say goodbye to your promotion, raise, improvement, etc. The district managers only trust there store managers over anyone else. considering they value open and honest feedback. if you have an issue with your store manager, dont expect HR or your district manager to do anything about it. They always brush it under the rug. The pay for sales associates are terrible, considering they have to do about the same work as management. There's lack of communication between management and sales associates in regards to your sales goal for the week. No your not being a sales hog but if your working more of the payroll hours your expected to top that plus more. Store manager is a sales hog, because she wants a bigger bonus. Its about who you know, when getting a promotion.

If any of my cons sound good to you, feel free to apply. But it will eat your soul.

This place has more cons than pros. The ONLY pro is the discount. I’m sure Full-time can name one or two more but in that whole store only 2 are full time.
Cons
This company has an issue maintaining people especially in the Reginal and District Management making it difficult for Store Managers (who eventually quit). That being said, working your way up the ladder is easy and quick if you agree to sell your soul and body. After some time you will realize that an app is your best friend there and they will write out exactly what to say to customers. Making us sound like robots. Especially when it comes to pushing their credit card. The credit card goals are ridiculous especially working in a small town. The store sets are very frequent (a bit too frequent). The company overloads their stores with freight so you will ALWAYS be working on shipment and fixing the floor before store sets. You must maintain ‘their’ appearance which is border line grandma apparel. The customers are horrendous too. A bunch of Christian old ladies that must complain about everything. Also their styles repeat so you will get a lot of ‘I bought it three years ago, do you have it?’ If you have any other store around you I m sure it’s 100% times better than Maurices. You have been warned. Best of luck.

Pros
Overall, great customers and super helpful CARE team. Pretty good benefits. The company really cares about their employees but field management does not match.
Cons
No diversity or inclusion here... don't expect to see minorities in management, just cookie cutter versions of the same person. Field management is infested with unprofessional women who don't know how to separate their personal feelings from business needs.

Spent a very long time with this company with very little complaints.

Great people, honestly doesn’t get better than the people you meet at maurices. (At least with my experience.) work life balance was fantastic. Very flexible schedule no crazy quarter long black out dates! Great PTO and benefits. Lots of structure and organization throughout company. Do your job, don’t leave anything on the table and you will be taken care of.
Cons
I was in management for over 7 years and could have stayed forever if growth opportunities were more attainable. Too many stores! Over 1000 of any store is just too much and doesn’t leave much room for growth within. Very discouraging to see leaders coming in from outside of the brand when there are amazing people within their own walls. If you feel like you have to bring someone in from another brand, there might be an issue with people development, Just saying.

Pros
Great benefits for full time employees including health coverage and compensation such as PTO, sick time and holiday pay, as well as bonuses if you make your sales month. Upper management is also very supportive and always asks what they can do to help.
Cons
I don't have any cons of working here.

I loved working for this company and would still be there now if I had not moved to another city.

Maurices fosters an environment in which to grow and succeed, while learning a great deal about yourself and the company!
Cons
Sometimes upper management can be blind to what is truly going on within a certain store.

Pros
-benefits -discount at 7 other companies - Co workers and multiple connections over the US -Lots of training materials to ensure you know policies and procedures. -incentives -bonus structure
Cons
-Learning all the materials but no growth opportunities -growth model severely outdated and expectation is to follow these and make the changes. -lack of support from district leaders and up -lengthy tenure of upper management develops into personal relationship versus being objective to all situations. -the practice of the promoted work life balance is consistent from leader to leader. -lack of communication from corporate to stores or delayed communication resulting in extra work. - Limiting pay to those who deserve extra and raise increases have been limited for over 4 years.

Pros
Great associate discount at 40%, good at Maurices and several other retail stores. Very good employee development programs, designed to cultivate leaders Loads of product training, fashion training, etc. Fun incentives for meeting goals, such as free clothes, gift cards, treat boxes for the team Company is progressive, always looking to make things better for both customers and associates Overal culture cultivated from the top down is very upbeat and positive, employee and customer friendly Monthly sales bonus for managers Good Work/Life Balance Good, competitive benefits package, insurance, vacation, 401K, etc. Part-time assistant manager positions provide terrific introductory opportunities for young adults looking toward a career in retail management. Company supports a customer friendly environment, expects excellence in customer service and provides the training to help associates succeed at customer service. Store support (From home office) is good, problems are resolved in a timely manner and reps from home office are friendly and eager to help.
Cons
Some DMs/RMs are out of touch with what is going on in the stores, while others are great. Inconsistency across the brand. Districts are large, so some DMs don't get around to visiting all of their stores very often. Computerized application/hiring process was extremely difficult to use, frustrating for both applicants and managers. This may have been updated since I left, I know the company was looking toward solutions. The Maurices credit card is a HUGE focus, and the pressure to get card signups is very intense, and the company takes away 1/2 of your monthly bonus if you don't meet or exceed your credit card signup goal. Customers are resistant to signing up, and still the company requires the associates to push it. Pay for assistant mgrs is on the low side, but higher than some retailers. Bonuses are rather small, and is reduced by 1/2 if credit card signup goal is not made. Promotions and reviews are based almost entirely on paper data. If a manager is making the "numbers," she/he is considered a great manager, if not, she/he is not a good manager. Associates are reviewed based on a system called "Net Producer," which divides an associate's personal sales volume by the percent of the total store's hours the associate worked in a given time frame. So, for instance, if an associate works 10% of the store's hours, but only sells 9% of the store's total sales, she is considered a negative Net Producer, and will receive a "Does Not Meet Standards" on her annual review. This system can pit associates on a team against each other, because no one wants to be a negative producer. It's a good idea in theory, to see if associates are "pulling their weight," but doesn't look at the whole picture of an associate's performance. Opportunity for promotion is not as good as with some retailers. There are occasional opportunities, but if you're looking to get on the fast track, you may get stalled with Maurices. Company is not always dilligent about making sure store maintenance issues, like carpet cleaning, etc, are resolved.

Pros
They discount was good and the store was neat.
Cons
The management were the definition of micro managers and were often times very degrading and rude. Very catty work environment.
