I have been working at Maven Wave Partners full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Maven Wave is a fast paced environment filled with enthusiastic and high energy people. Since we are a small to midsize firm, there are a lot of opportunities to gain experience in areas that you may not normally see at larger consulting firms.

The culture here is tight knit. Everyone has a unique and inviting personality which makes for a great time when we get to relax and have fun.

    Cons

Since it is a smaller firm, there isn't any formal training programs. Like any job, you are expected to take initiative on projects or improving your skills in certain areas. Sometimes that can feel overwhelming, but it's what you have to do to keep up in fast paced environments.

I worked at Maven Wave Partners full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    good compensation
    great employees
    excellent location

    Cons

If company has no dedicated sales and strong pipeline, "self directed leaders" cannot get themselves an engagement with client specially the ones who are manager or less. Company relies completely on partners to do sales. It is much easier in this market to get on monster and land a better job then wait on the bench

    Advice to Management

build a proper sales strategy like other consulting companies with dedicated sales and business development team

I worked at Maven Wave Partners full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-if you are good they will value that, if you are mediocre probably you won't be even hired on the first place
    - good compensation

    Cons

    - lack of career management direction, multiple managers that will tell what to do, no clear path of where to go.
    - no bench strategy, if you are on the bench, god bless you, you might end up been fired

    Pros

If you have enough talent to be a consultant or senior consultant at an actual consulting company, they will make you principal or higher.

    Cons

Staff aug, no bench, no training, little to no consulting talent.

    Advice to Management

Agile is not a "fit-all" consulting methodology.

I worked at Maven Wave Partners full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company is located in a prime Chicago Loop location. Very nice office space. Even though it is a consulting firm, there is absolutely no travel at all. All of the clients are in the Chicago area.

    Cons

None of the consulting gigs are face-to-face at the client site, which makes it too difficult to handle client communication and issues. Unless you are interested in Google Enterprise Development, the work is very boring and non-challenging. All of the project work is staff-augmented. Project managers have no control over resources or accountability, yet are expected to control a clients project with no authority or input. Executive team will throw lower-end resources under the bus in front of their peers and the client in order to make themselves look better.

    Advice to Management

Management training and interpersonal skills needed for the partners.

I have been working at Maven Wave Partners (Less than a year)

    Pros

Maven Wave provides the opportunity for outstanding professional growth. I have exposure to a variety of projects and clients and I am able to take on extra work/research within personal areas of interest. At Maven Wave, I am truly able to step outside my comfort zone, working at a much higher level than even my work title reflects - I am involved in decisions that I wouldn't dream of if I were within Corporate America. The people I work alongside are so creative and are some of the smartest people in the industry. I actually look forward to coming to work every day!

    Cons

This is definitely not an environment for those whom are not self-motivated and do not take well to empowerment; nobody is going to hold your hand along the way.

    Advice to Management

Keep rewarding those whom deserve it and people will continue to love working for, and with, you!

I have been working at Maven Wave Partners full-time

    Pros

Work with other motivated and talented individuals
    Flat organization, very little hierarchy
    You guide your own career
Once you have proven yourself and have gained Maven Wave's trust and your client's trust you make your own decisions and run your team/organization as you see fit.
Employees at all levels are empowered to do what they think is right and learn from their mistakes
Learning/acquiring new skills highly is encouraged

    Cons

Lack of structure might be a difficult hurdle for people accustomed to being told what to do from day to day
If cannot voice your opinion to the people in charge about an assignment that does not meet your needs/expectations/career goals don't expect things to change

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, rewarding achievements and promoting top performers quickly and regularly will take us to our next target.
