I worked at Maverick Software Consulting (More than a year)

    Pros

Worked in a team environment with plenty of tools available for successfully utilizing the knowledge gained from University in real world situations - contracting with Thomson Reuters Inc, a large, multinational media and information firm, to support development of a commercial software application.

The job helps students to get directly into the workforce following graduation and has great compensation for the work put in.

    Cons

While some of the programming involved required a more advanced knowledge of coding (Java), much of it was rather basic eg. XML, HTML, CSS. There was also a great amount of freedom of when and how much work you could complete which could lead to less productivity.

    Advice to Management

Perhaps a slightly more rigorous oversight on the productivity of employees. While the freedom was one of the better perks of the job in general, and it worked for many employees, at that time I was not mature enough to manage my work load effectively.

I worked at Maverick Software Consulting part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The experience I gained not only with information technology but working in a professional space is tremendous. At Maverick you aren't a 'coffee retriever', you are working on very important projects that hold a lot of weight within the particular company. This allowed for a smoother transition than I could have imagined into my career after college.

Networking with Maverick is also incredible pro. You get to work with the brightest students in the program which will only make college a better and more successful experience. Also professionals Maverick is always putting you in-touch some of the best professionals in the industry.

Interviews. Maverick puts a lot of emphasis on getting your ready for interviews. They allow you to sit in on interviews, ask questions, and preform mock interviews.

    Cons

Honestly, I cannot think of any.

    Advice to Management

Not that this was ever an issue but never stand still - keep moving forward and improving such a wonderful experience. 'Keep on keepin' on. '
