I worked at Maverik full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Usually a fun work environment. Most fellow employees are motivated, good team atmosphere. Some room for advancement. 24 hour stores, so many schedules are available.

    Cons

Company seems to be lacking good hiring practices. Very high turnover rate of employees at all stores. Some employees are allowed to get away with showing up hours late to their shift daily, while others are punished or fired for showing up 30 minutes late twice.

    Advice to Management

Get better hiring managers in your stores, and listen to and address your employees' complaints. Don't allow bullying from older or senior staff. Don't let store managers allow some employees to show up hours late to work repeatedly because they are "picking their battles".

    I worked at Maverik full-time

    Pros

Exciting, Adventurous, Fun, Caring, Advancement Opportunities

    Cons

Not enough pay, Operations Managers make $1.50 more then employees and Shift Leads make $.50 more then employees, Most Store Directors are Lazy

    Advice to Management

Raise the middle management wages a little higher. Like Shift Lead should make $1.25 more than employees, and ops should make $3.00 more than employees. Also teach more to the Directors to not just sit on their butts all day drinking coffee and ordering employees around.

I have been working at Maverik full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Maverik is consistently trying to improve by having the updated scheduling, waste and labeling programs. Maverik is growing! It truly offers a better service then its competitors by far. They constantly give back to the employees, free backpacks etc., a huge discount on food and a bonus to every employee if the store makes the goals. The owner is a CEO which just shows to me the investment they have in the company. They're constantly rewarding good behavior and encouraging us to learn. They offer gym reimbursement and college reimbursement too!

    Cons

Some growing pains as they try new things. Of course each experience varies on the managers of the stores. Career opportunities are limited out you're not wanting to move around.

    Advice to Management

Know what you have! This company is ten times better then any other I've worked for. Don't take advantage of it.

I worked at Maverik full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Maverik it's self is an OK company to work for. OK benefits, the usual for a gas station. Though I will say it is a much better company to work for than 7-11, if gas stations are your thing.

    Cons

Depending on who the store director is depends on what you are and what you get. I have found that it appears that in many of the stores it is very "clickish " Alot of drama based on personel. Also not Alot of paid time off, and even requesting a day off is like pulling teeth. As bakery manager I worked from 5 am To 1 pm. If I was lucky. Plus weekends and usually didn't get off till 3 or 4 pm. It is ALOT of work for one person especially in the morning rush, and there resistance to get you help is very strong because of the income to salary ratio, but white collar knows nothing!!

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the drama!!!! I was good at my job, I loved my job, but because I got sick, and hadn't been with company for more than a year, I was terminated. I even had a physicians letter stating the facts. I really loves this job and I miss it!!
