    Cons

Unknowledgeable service ,assistant and store managers make the tech's jobs so much more difficult . Health insurance program is trash .

    Advice to Management

Training and hiring of Managers that have some sort of automotive knowledge would be helpful .

    Pros

Good discount on tires, decent coworkers.

    Cons

Only thing this company cares about its flushes, brake jobs, and alignments. They don't care how they get them, and they certainly don't care for customer safety or being truthful about the right problems on the car, as long as they make a profit.

    Advice to Management

Change your structure and actually be truthful as a service center.

    Advice to Management

Take care of employees and understand what customers need are not what will make you $

    Pros

Mandatory overtime. If you can count that as a pro. It's the only way to make money with this company.

    Cons

Everything about this company is a joke. Company is so corrupt that they would rather hire outside incompetent Managers rather than promote excellent talent within. They give you false promises, send you to store to store, take away your bonus from time to time. It's like getting paid to be in jail basically. Work for any other company but this one.

    Advice to Management

Upper management does not care about daily operations of company or quality of employees status.

    Pros

Wish I could think of just one

    Cons

On your feet for 10 hour shifts, no breaks, terrible working conditions, half as mechanics. All Upper management is concerned is selling Power steering flushes, Brake flushes and Good year credit cards, no discipline with the employees, theft, smoking in the shop, Horrible

    Advice to Management

Get a clue and learn ho to run a business

I have been working at Mavis Discount Tire full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get to meet some interesting people. Work sometimes feels rewarding. Easy to get the job.

    Cons

Constantly having to lie to customers on the company's behalf. Pressured to make sales while understaffed. No work-life balance. Sub-par technicians and mechanics make days stressful. High turnover rate. Employees show up when they feel like it, with no disciplinary action. Almost no support from upper management. Wages are terrible. If you are thinking about working at Mavis Discount Tire, and you can apply anywhere else, do it. This company is a waste of your time.

    Advice to Management

I hope you guys can stop this company from sinking. We make decent money for you guys, but you have no values. You guys don't care about customers. All you care about is a quick buck. Its such a shame. Get rid of whoever is deciding "The Mavis Way." Its a terrible way. The worst way.

I worked at Mavis Discount Tire full-time

    Pros

Honestly, not many. As an entry-level person you can gain practical experience BUT don't allow yourself to adopt their sales or management philosophies which are a throw back to high pressure over selling rip off facilities that gives the industry a bad reputation

    Cons

Poor treatment of employees is an understatement. This company is out to gouge the customer ever single step of the way, and they do that by putting pressure on us managers and technicians to sell products and services. They dont tell you to rip people off but they know you have to to hit numbers, it's like a big secret game. Fall below the target profit dollars and you will get multiple phone calls every day from upper management harassing you to hit your #'s, no questions asked and no excuses. You feel like your job is at risk every single day. Upper management for retail likes to "preach" to the masses but in practice expect you to do the worst things possible to hit numbers. They bought out a good company with TRUST as a motto and approach to the customer and completely destroyed that in ever way possible. Ultimately they will cash out just like the prior executives did. In the meantime it's a depressing and embarrassing place to work. Don't fool yourself for a minute thinking they care either, just like the top couple previous owners the current ones are in it for the money not the employees and certainly not the customers. Sadly it is time to look for a new company to work for. I don't want to be here anymore since it's become Mavis.

    Advice to Management

Hopefully there's something left to salvage for the next owner.

I worked at Mavis Discount Tire full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I always had a very strong passionate love for fixing things and always working hard hands on with a lot of things so I went to trade school for 4 yrs obtained a degree in the automotive industry after attending Thomas A. Edision Technical / Vocational.

    Cons

Some of the biggest cons for working for Mavis was the a lot of the staff members were not on a professional caliber enough to carry the position of title that a lot of these guys have.

    Advice to Management

Never was fortunate enough to advance with this company because once again a lot of these guys were well over rated and a large number of them were carrying titles for positions that they aren't build for so everybody appeared to think that they know everything.
