I worked at Max-Delbrück-Center as an intern

    Pros

very international working groups, highly equipped

    Cons

It's located very far from the city and sometimes transportation can be hard, but not a big deal.

    I worked at Max-Delbrück-Center as a contractor

    Pros

Well Equipped & Well Funded. Almost any experiment that can be thought of is doable on campus. The potential exists for some great collaborations. Pay and benefits are nice according to the law that governs public positions.

    Cons

Very little career development support from group leaders. You're on your own. Also the same laws that govern pay and benefits mandate that you are allowed only something along the order of a six year contract post Ph.D. before the Institute kicks you out. Very few permanent positions mean your research might get cut short once the clock strikes six years. No exceptions.

    Advice to Management

Play a more active role in career developments of the many great scientists that make this Institution great. The annual career day is a good start, but more could be done.

    I worked at Max-Delbrück-Center as a contractor

    Pros

money doesn't seem to be a problem therefore very good facilities and equipment
lots of different research groups so there is always somebody around with useful information
bunch of young and very motivated people around

    Cons

poor organisational culture which makes conflicts possible
inspite of international environment the internationals in some groups get treated differently (and it's not in a good sense, more like in a weird sense)
there is practically no control over what is happening in the research groups, every group leader is the king of his own castle so one needs to be careful when choosing a group

    Pros

    Advice to Management

    (Translated from English)

    Pros

    Cons

Kein Entgegenkommen für Studenten in der Mensa

    Advice to Management

Bieten Sie bessere Gehälter für Doktoranden an.
