    Pros

Lots of interesting work, good pay and opportunity.

    Cons

They seem to have gone on the age and race discrimination band wagon. If you are Asian and young you will fit in. Old white guys need not apply if you are young this might be the place for you

    Advice to Management

You cant survive on HB-1 visa holders.

The company is still small. The R&D cycle is always tight and the task is sometimes heavy. people inside needs to take over multi roles.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at MaxLinear full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nothing per se. Located in good cities, San Jose, Irvine and Carlsbad. Everything else doesn't matter. Tried hard but cannot think of any.

    Cons

Pathetic management with unrealistic expectations. Please do not end up here. Totally immature managers trying to climb up the ladder at the cost of employees.

    Advice to Management

Get a life. Stop sucking life out of employees.

I worked at MaxLinear as an intern

    Pros

They work on really interesting projects. The specs that they target is challenging and it is so fun to work on such projects. You will learn a lot.
Also, management has established good collaboration and communication between people which helps you to learn a lot. They are smart and well experienced.

    Cons

I didn't see any serious issue for interns.
It would be great if the company could help the interns with housing.
Also, interns don't have access key. So sometimes, specially at launch hours, you need to wait in front desk till finally someone opens the door for you.

    Advice to Management

    Help interns with housing

I worked at MaxLinear full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some folk are very helpful to teach you. Free snacks in the kitchen, espp is good. Stock based compensation is also good if the stock goes up.

    Cons

Low salaries due to h1 workers with phds. Bad management. Senior engineers work on the cool projects. No sick days. Long hours. Late meetings.

    Advice to Management

Bad ethics. It is like working in banglore. CFO is very mean to engineers with H1 visas. He would come threaten you about your greencard if he is not happy with your work.

    Pros

Pros are for CEO and VPs. The rest don't see any benefits.

    Cons

Cheap company. Very poor culture. Mafia management. No respect for engineers. Cramp 4 people in cube to watch each other like KGB 12 hours a day is norm. Constant pressure. Everything is set up for 5-6 people in the executive management to benefit from (costs, extreme pressure etc.). The rest are wasting their time and life. There is a reason why MaxLinear is famous for bad culture, it's not hoax. But management knows this and does not care. They have this habit of cutting off full time employees as soon as their tasks are over. They don't warn you in advance. This is not a company with normal work ethics/culture. They smile and pretend to be nice to new job applicants, but be warned that does not last long. As others have said here, the majority of people working here have left, with new naive faces replacing them, only to figure out the same things few months later. This company needs a major change in culture.

    Cons

Extremely cheap company. Nickle and dime everything. 4 people per cube. Very hostile environment. No respect to employees. No sick days. Traffic is bad to commute Carlsbad office.

    Advice to Management

Get rid if your unrealistic schedules. Pay better and respect to employees. Try to hire better engineers. Dont be cheap!!!

I have been working at MaxLinear full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

High tech, cutting edge, advanced ICs that are taking market share from much bigger competitors. Stock options. Smart people. Learning environment. May make money someday.

    Cons

Very fast pace and demanding work environment. A bit unorganized on running programs, with plenty of shifting people around to fit holes in the development process. Weak vacation policy, and one that requires upper management approval, and scrutiny, for even a few days off. Poor management communication. Lot of turn over with colleagues. Keep your butt in the seat and work long hours. 4 people in a cube, loud environment.

    Advice to Management

Tell your employees that you care about them, and that they're important to you. Change the vacation policy, allow more days off. Staff up your programs properly and stop shifting people around every other week. Support, empower and trust your workers to allow them to be successful, instead of just dumping more unrealistic schedules and workloads.
