I worked at Maxim Crane Works full-time

    Pros

Great pay and benefits, the others workers are friendly and helpful. The rigging Sup at the Houston yard is cool, firm but fair kinda guy.

    Cons

It can be frustrating dealing with newer forename at times. Although they do mean well, leadership roles can be stressful.

    Advice to Management

Excercise more tactic when correcting newer hands. I understand normal day to day hazing like messing with someone on a friendly level. Especially in the industry I thick skin is vital. At times it can be over done.

I have been working at Maxim Crane Works full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I work for Maxim Crane several times now and I do enjoy working with them they're very professional and they care about safety

    Cons

I think Maxim Crane needs to maybe negotiate a little bit more with the contractors as far is supplying the operators with parking near the job or on the job contractors lately do not supply the employees with adequate parking and in some cases you have to pay for your own parking

    Advice to Management

I think management needs to be a little bit more understanding in the type of people that we have to work with on the job in most cases it's bad communication as far as foreigners speaking different languages and expecting the operator to take signals from somebody that's incompetent

I worked at Maxim Crane Works full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Large Company with great benefits.

    Cons

Horrible people skills. Training program is non existent. Train-by-fire is the mantra shared by the employees.

    Advice to Management

Learn skills necessary to train new employees and make sure the trainers have people skills as well. They exhibit a horrible training regimen.

I worked at Maxim Crane Works full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This organization focuses on safety first, followed by customer service and returns on investment.

    Cons

Performance appraisals non-existent, would like formalized annual review.

    Advice to Management

Continue to focus on safety and customer service, everything else will follow.

    Pros

Exciting place to work with intelligent people. Always trying to improve the business. Everyday was a challenge and I felt a part of the solution.

    Cons

None. I don't have anything bad to say. It was a high pressure work environment at times but I liked that

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing a great job

    Pros

They have to pay Union wages and benefits.

    Cons

They will starve you out of work if you try to defend the Union contract. They treat workers like they are stupid underlings. They do many behind close doors meetings and never keep us in tune to what is going on in the company. No way can you advance up into the company. Management only hires family and outside people into management positions.

    Advice to Management

Treat your people with respect. Acknowledge operators for what they do. Promote from within the companys workers.
