I have been working at Maxim Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Strong deal flow, even if some are smaller in cap size, with good exposure. For a young firm Maxim is climbing fast. Opportunities to add value are vast compared to other shops

    Cons

Pay is not in line with competitors and should be addressed to retain top talent

I worked at Maxim Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There wasn't any pros for me to list to be honest.

    Cons

Was sold a bill of goods that was never provided. A lot of little expenses I wasn't told about up front that I found out later on.

    Advice to Management

Add quality products so people are set up to succeed and not fall by the waste side.

I worked at Maxim Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good company
    Nice location
    Most people are nice

    Cons

    Management is horrible
Edward rose the counsel has an inflated ego!
Pay is low for new financial advisors which is a joke compared to bigger firms.
No training at all, they watch you fail.

They use new advisors to work for the senior advisors

    Advice to Management

    Fire all your executives
and pay your new advisors fairly!

I worked at Maxim Group (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a job that paid something.

    Cons

The upper and middle management don't care about you. The benefits were unbelievably horrible. The various departments don't get along with each other and they'll do whatever they can to get paid at the expense of others. I saw multiple physical altercations and heard of others that I wasn't present for.

    Advice to Management

Care more about your people and run the business for the long-term profit, not the short term.

    Pros

Entrepreneurial, small, family-owned investment bank. You eat what you kill. All you get is a phone and a desk, the rest is up to you.

    Cons

No one gets a salary/bonus, commission-based only. Management doesn't incentivize people to work in teams.

    Advice to Management

Develop a culture of its own, enable people to maximize their full potential.

I worked at Maxim Group full-time

    Pros

if you work hard, Maxim has a good brand name, strong research department and constant deal flow. Position involves building your own business, there is not a lot of supervision so if you have difficulty working hard on your own may be a bad fit.

    Cons

    more guidance for younger employees

    Advice to Management

    better screen employees
