I worked at Maxim Integrated (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place to start and grow your career, even if you don't want to be in the semiconductor industry long term.

    Cons

Salary seems less competitive with industry peers.

    Pros

Nice People, allows for independence in day to day assignments

    Cons

Weak leadership just hires friends from outside, without looking to in-house employees first

I have been working at Maxim Integrated full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Less stressful working environment
Easy to proceed the projects by helping each other between the groups, rather than competing
    Excellent colleagues to work together

    Cons

trying to set up central system which is required to become a large company, but there are many loop holes in those systems at this moment
    Lack of long term direction

    Advice to Management

Need to reconsider "cost-saving" strategy added to "margin-only" one. By paying a little more on these, the lifetime of many products and hence the revenue will increase a lot

    Pros

Nothing to say that is a pro.

    Cons

Terrible retention of talent....not willing to invest in its people. A terrible place for a new grad to start his/her career. You wont survive a reorganization...the company eats its young. The company's engineering talent is done for.

    Advice to Management

    Lower your stock awards.

I have been working at Maxim Integrated full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There is very little to recommend this company. I guess the only pros I can think of are the sheer number and diversity of Maxim's end markets. This has a stabilizing effect on the company's earnings.

    Cons

Since the founder, Jack Gifford was forced to leave, Maxim has been on a steady decline. While I was there, I saw sagging morale, incompetent and disingenuous management and a revolving door labor force.

    Advice to Management

    Treat employees like real people.

I have been working at Maxim Integrated full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Mostly good people, very interesting technology, people work hard. Much more organized than before. Fast-paced.

    Cons

Seems to be betting very political. Hard work isn't always rewarded. Good people are not treated well. Poor middle and upper management with lack of vision. The focus is on short term profits. Good technology is being milked, with limited investment in advancing the state of art. Competition is catching up.

    Advice to Management

Treat people better. Be serious about investing in technology if you're serious about maintaining margins.

I worked at Maxim Integrated full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good positive environment and of course depends on which BU/team you work for. Good compensation and benefits, generally superior to most other semi companies out there.

    Cons

Sometimes it was tough to maintain work life balance but was manageable. Not that many cons, now that they have newer and much nicer office building.

    Pros

The people and work environment are good. Treat everyone fairly. Really good benefits. Decent work/life balance.

    Cons

Sometimes management does not take input from regular employees. Employees who actually do the job. Pay is low compared to market rate. Not much growth.

    Advice to Management

Start paying employees market rate. Need to take input from average employees.
