I worked at Mayo Clinic full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

A big name company in a relatively small-town setting. Plenty of research and clinical laboratory opportunities. Great environment for a career in healthcare.

    Cons

Awful downtown parking, but shuttle and public transit available. It depends on your field, but career growth opportunities can be limited.

I worked at Mayo Clinic full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great company that really cares about developing you so that you are the best both for yourself and for the company Good benefits

    Cons

There is much bureaucracy, but that is to be expected with a company as expansive as Mayo Clinic. Health insurance exclusive to Mayo

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Mayo Clinic full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

a wonderful hospital with a lot of practices and research opportunities; depending on if you can get into transnational research, it is a very unique place you can grow yourself.

    Cons

bureaucratic system. severe political barriers for junior people. cold weather and boring small-size city. comparing to very lively eastern and western coast, here is a place for you to start a career and raise your small kids, but not good for expanding and finding more opportunities.

    Advice to Management

please try to keep good employees. location is already some clear disadvantage for mayo.

    Cons

Winters can be harsh, but with the patient and employee subways in addition to on-site parking provided (standard for research fellows), it is not a problem. Also, with many local state parks nearby in addition to Quarry Hill, these locations provide great opportunities to take advantage of exploring the outdoors during these times.

    Advice to Management

Continue: 1) increasing employee benefits: great that you will now be matching retirement investments, 2) to offer more opportunities for employee learning and growth: try to find a way to build a more user friendly Employee Entrepreneurial Program, 3) the culture at Mayo is excellent, try to help further build the Rochester community through greater diversity. 4) to provide free bus transportation for employees...
