I worked at Mayors Jewelers full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fun, can be fast-paced (during season), great training.

    Cons

Work/Life was never separate, store managers don't get paid well for the work entailed. Store directors get paid quite a bit more

    Advice to Management

Store directors should not be above the law. What is good for the goose..... Store managers usually have a lot more on their plate than what upper management may realize.

I have been working at Mayors Jewelers full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I can not say that I feel there are any pros in working for this company.

    Cons

I don't think there is enough space to list them all here. It is overly competitive, training was very disorganized, culture was who could argue about a client being theirs more.

    Advice to Management

Look at your directors and figure out who is more into themselves and less into trying to help and aid new staff to enhance training and create an outstanding career opportunity for anyone that is brave enough to come onboard with this company. Culture is best described as constant turmoil', dissention and argument among staff and management in fact it appears that often the directors stir up the trouble and seem to enjoy it. The compensation is okay and probably on par with most of these types of jobs. Couldn't identify many if any perks.

I have been working at Mayors Jewelers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You get discounts on certain items.

    Cons

Jealous co-workers and managers. No respect from managers and a lot of cherry picking and favoritism. Poor managing from store directors who think they are above everyone. If you're educated with a degree or pretty much intelligent stay away from this company. This company does not focus on their employees. They focus on the selected few at the corporate office. This is a sinking ship and life preservers are meant for those with executive positions.

    Advice to Management

Eliminate the store directors and their absurd $125k salaries. Start at the south florida stores and work your way up! They are neither needed nor respected. Eliminate the VP who spends his time ruining the company with his old business tactics. The moment this happens morale may go up.

Extremely demanding at times however that is not a negative thing. It pushes people out of their comfort zone and consequently make them grow professionally.

    Pros

Luxury jeweler that does 75% of its product sales in timepieces. Product discounts, nice training system. Owned by Birks of Canada.

    Cons

Toxic employees, store directors usually too weak to manager their stores. Certain employees are allowed to get away with lying, for gain. This happened many times. When called out to store director(s) nothing was done in fear of loosing employee and their volume. Director incited and allows bickering.

    Advice to Management

Get back in the jewelry business! Change by our name to Birks. increase your commissions on jewelry items.

No life at all. You will live breath and eat nothing but your job. So if you want a job that consumes your every minute outside and inside work. Then mayors is for you

    Advice to Management

There should be part time positions.
