I have been working at Mazak full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay is good and benefits are good... hard to beat this company in those areas. Air conditioning as well. Big plus for someone who's welding

    Cons

Management like to keep employees in the dark about most company issues and no one can make a decision about anything

    Advice to Management

Tell employees what's going on with the company not just what you want them to know. If you tell them something stick to it

I worked at Mazak full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked with some of the best people I know - the type of people who will go the extra mile to help you whenever you need it.

    Cons

Systems, policies, procedures are all in need of modernizing and updating. Often the people are fighting against the bureaucracy just to do the best job they can. Prior upper management created a risk-averse culture where the easiest thing to do is what has always been done and taking risks is seldom rewarded but often punished.

    Advice to Management

Employee empowerment is more than just a catch-phrase. Make sure the best people are in place then give them the tools and authority to create the success you want. And don't be afraid to blow up old practices - prior management was there WAY too long and things got stale. And I'm not the only good person who left because your pay is not even close to competitive!

I worked at Mazak full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The work was not difficult but the conditions could be tough. Expectations of management were not tough.

    Cons

Accountability was lacking as were clear job definitions. This created strains between yourself and your co-workers as there always seamed to be a changing set of double standards. There was also an expectation to work tons of overtime when they needed it, but this could change quickly leaving you with no option of overtime.

    Advice to Management

Senior management needs to be more visible and communicate with their workforce.

    Pros

Challenging career in engineering, always updating, co-workers, and Non Exempt so have to work hard for your money.

    Cons

If company is doing bad first your overtime gets cut then your hourly rate will get cut, Drive for me is far. Take on to many projects all at once.

    Advice to Management

Specialize in a few machines to make them good then branch out.
