Amazing firm i must say. Great people to work with and good client base. Many extra curricular activities and opportunities to leadership roles. Raises and bonuses are generally better than other public accounting firms.

    Cons

Benefits cab be better. Health insurance is very expensive.

I worked at Mazars full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Workplace next to Times square
    - Lots of clients to work with
    - Gain of experience

    Cons

    - No training for interns and poor training for staff
    - No assistance from multiple incompetent seniors during your missions at the client , no help at all. There is no real team work, you are on your OWN. If you make mistakes because of external reasons (disorganization, incompetence from seniors, etc) it will be your fault. There is no guidance from HR, upper management, teams, and expectations are very high. You are mistreated and looked down upon.
    - No instant feedback during missions from seniors and managers. They will wait more than 5 months to give you their non professional observations.
    - Need better communication from HR and upper management
    - Senior / management are disorganized
    - A lot of turnover at senior level
    - A lot of staff are hired and after one year and lots of them leave or can't continue with the firm without good reason
    - Horrible benefits with high deductible
    - No clear expectations or structure
    - Don't be naive and don't be fooled
    - Unprofessional people

    Advice to Management

HR should make an effort to know their employees and work little harder in making sure that the work is equally distributed amongst the team members. Scheduling is horrible. There is a major need of improvement in how the scheduling is done.
HR and upper management should care about their interns and staff by knowing them, improve the trainings needed in order to deliver a good work.
They should improve communication towards their employees.
Be open and honest about communication along the way.
Improve your feedback system because receiving feedback until the end of the year is not normal and non professional.
For upper management, be clear about your expectations, improve your communication towards the team and not only to the manager or senior.
I recommend you to improve your team buildings skills, because there is no real team work in this firm.

    Pros

At this New York office of foreign company there are many interesting people and some smart partners working on a wide group of clients and you will stay very very very busy. If you make partner youre on track to get free trips to headquarters in France. If HR likes you theyll ask you to help recruit at colleges campuses and schools so you can get some time off without getting in trouble or getting yelled at for not enough hours to bill.

    Cons

Don't believe the promises and they tell you many. Youll be expected to sacrifice your personal time routinely to rescue partners who need time off to golf and network and go out for lunching and dining and some who don't ever work Friday at night or on Saturdays. If youre rocking their boat you may get stuck being sent to outside offices in New Jersey Philadelphia and Woodbury. Hard to focus on work when youre getting yelled at. Partner pets get the best treatment and if your English is not perfect you will have a hard time to be accepted. If you value true diversity there is plenty at the nonpartner levels but there is no real diversity at the top which shows who runs the firm.

    Advice to Management

You talk so much about how much you value employees and diversity and all that so why not prove yourselves and put an African American CEO in charge of the New York office?
