    I worked at Mazars full-time

    Pros

    - Junior staff and certain Partners in Insurance are amazing to work with.
    - Dont care about work life balance - but people leave at 5 15 on the dot

    Cons

    - French domination in London within risk management team leading to favoritism to french speaking individuals
    - Toxic politics lead to low performers being booked on to good projects
    - Senior staff unwilling to teach/ train associates which defeats purpose
    - No respect for the career direction you as an individual want to take

    Advice to Management

    - Hone skills of juniors so they are capable to take on senior management roles rather than moving firms . Stop hiring french speaking mediocre people as managers.

I worked at Mazars full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Good opportunities to take ownership and 'step up', more so than at larger consulting firms
    - Many nice people with strong backgrounds (e.g. Big 4)
    - Close working with Partners, lots of exposure
    - Very good work-life balance for consulting

    Cons

    - Poor brand for consulting
    - Too much focus on utilisation & profits at the expense of people
    - Very limited pipeline of work - the few projects available are either in the middle of nowhere, or uninteresting work
    - Pay below market rates (no bonus)
    - Emphasis on 'cross-skilling' into less interesting areas
    - No clear strategy for the team
    - Very high staff turnover
    - Toxic culture, stemming from leadership politics

    Advice to Management

Develop a clear strategy for the Consulting team, putting people first and focus on growing the pipeline

    Pros

Good for Fresher if they are looking to explore their careers in core finance.

    Cons

Middle level management is very immature and inexperienced. Employees concentrate more on others things instead of work. Work life balance is not good. No time to focus on commercial knowledge. Managers will only focus on delivering the projects on time. No career focus of employees.

    Advice to Management

    Hire someone experienced professional.

I have been working at Mazars full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fantastic group of people to work with and get along with socially. This makes for a really good team atmosphere in the audit department. As the firm sits in the mid tier, the level of exposure you get as trainee is superior to a big 4 accounting firm. Within a year you could be leading engagements. The managers have faith in their juniors and seniors and this allows for greater levels of responsibility and an early stage. The salary is also competitive compared to rival firms and similar roles. In recent years the firms is doing more in terms of social events. The work life balance is also very good.

All in all it is a fantastic place to train and achieve your ACA.

    Cons

Although the pay is competitive compared to rival firms and similar roles, it is not competitive when compared against roles in industry. The pay structure is fairly rigid so this is unlikely to change. The firm can be too London centric and neglect it's smaller regional offices.

    Advice to Management

Look at introducing additional incentives to keep recently qualified seniors at the firm, not necessarily cash incentives. Also ensure regional offices are not left in London's shadow, the MK office is far lower spec than the London office.
