    Positive Outlook

I worked at McAfee full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of opportunities to learn from talented seniors.
Frequent technical & knowledge sessions even outside of your current projects.
    Culture like a family.
    Work from home.
Free breakfast, snacks, pantry always full of food to eat.
    Lots of fun activities.

    Cons

Few egoistic guys who spoil the environment.
Limited option to switch among projects as number of projects is low.

    I worked at McAfee full-time

    Pros

    - Cork is really a nice city.
    - People always willing to help.

    Cons

    - no roadmap or vision.
    - Managers use to say: "A lot of projects here" but engineers with nothing to do!
    - Very poor management (from middle managers to directors included).
    - The ratio between managers and engineers is ridiculous (almost 1:1).

    Advice to Management

    - Start to collect yearly feedbacks to evaluate (and improve) your management, you'll have a lot of fun!
    - I suggest: leadership by example. Too many talk with no concrete actions.

I have been working at McAfee full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Cutting edge technology in security.
    Work life balance.
    Culture.

    Cons

    Compensation.
    Attrition.
    No roadmap.
    Site specific leadership.
    Redundant/ Overlapping tech stack.
    Office facilities.

    Advice to Management

Cut down attrition, have better performance review process. Spend resources on employee retention.

    Get a road map.

Middle level management remains the same over the years and continue their own personal agendas and personal vendettas. Middle level managers have to be shuffled across every few years.

I have been working at McAfee full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good Story, great people on the field, strong sales leadership in the field.

    Cons

Sold to TPG, poor leadership at the top, C-Level, has led to lingering quality issues in key endpoint solutions. That has led to support and development challenges to stay relevant and deliver in a timely fashion. Too much time putting out fires and saving logos versus selling to new logos.

    Advice to Management

Oversight at the top on how they invest in people and R&D. Move from McAfee name/brand to a new brand. Issues and concerns linger from pre Intel acquisition and post sale to TPG. If they can get rid of the quality issues and deliver on the message it will be an overwhelming success, if not the competition will continue to make them appear irrelevant.

    Pros

Good atmosphere. Lots of good staff

    Cons

Large organisation. Prone to top down ideas.

    Advice to Management

Staff are an asset , not just a resource

I worked at McAfee full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good people, good salaries comp and benefits under Intel. Not if they are as good under McAfee.

    Cons

Dont take a greenfield sales territory. You need existing customers with EPO to upsell. Very hard to convince a customer to rip and replace their existing endpoint product as this is a large and complicated undertaking.

    Advice to Management

    Get all your products integrated

I worked at McAfee full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This is a big company with lots of support
    Pay is decent

    Cons

Focus switches from one direction to another
Greenfield account focus, with almost no support
    Product issues with most customers

    Advice to Management

Put a program in place, and fully support, and see it to fruition
You can't divide and subdivide verticals and territories, and just expect to grow results, indefinitely. Focus more on your support functions to keep customers happy.
