      No Work / Life Balance

      Pros

      - Company benefits (parties, free food, Thursday Happy Hour, etc) - Culture (met so many great people, company had open discussion panels, seminars with different professionals speaking about their experience, etc)

      Cons

      - Healthy work / life balance does not exist (I can only speak for my team, other teams are better with this) - Never got a raise in over two years of working. Juniors I was managing were making more than I was - You must be passionate about advertising. If you are not, it makes this job much more difficult

      Intimidatingly great

      Pros

A brilliant and truly connected network full of the best people in the industry. Real heart and personality. They put beliefs and mantras into action - they really do 'hire great people and get out of the way'. They really do believe in the power of a 'Truth Well Told'. They really do believe in fundamentals not fads. I thought there was some hype coming in. Not really.

      Cons

Like most creatively oriented environments, squeaky wheels tend to get the oil. It's a bold and generous culture, often blunt and forceful.

Overall good, but after a while definitely feels like Mad Men

      Pros

They work hard to make the culture fun and your social calendar full. They hire great people personality wise and talent wise, and they're highly motivated to win business and awards, which can help you build your resume. Lots of internal growth opportunities (in terms of gaining experience, but not necessarily in title). They're more than happy to let you propose projects and take the lead in them.

      Cons

It's very hierarchical and it's clear who they want to take care of and who they don't. There are serious diversity issues that they have no idea how to addresss, often falling into tokenism. There have been several instances where I've witnessed upper management fake diversity and advocacy for the sake of a client.

      Pros

Relatively decent pay. Really great people. Great location and lots of events/activities to keep employee morale at a good level. Also a bonus that you can bring your dog with you to the office.

      Cons

Too many people with very poor management skills are allowed to thrive here. Being talented isn't always the way to win, having the favor of someone high up in executive leadership is, even if employees are garbage at their job. They also don't have a formal bonus payout process, regardless of how well the agency does (some people get them on the sly here and there).

      A great place to start

      Pros

Great people, great opportunities for career growth and development. A large agency but depending on what brand you work on it can feel like a small agency within an agency. Company culture has improved over the past year and senior management is getting better which is helping the agency to grow and to retain its employees better.

      Cons

Compensation is low, most senior management is constantly changing, resulting in not a lot of passion for the agency, more for the brand you work on. I do wish we stood up for our work a bit more. as well, taking a model like W+K.

Great people, not so great career growth.

      Pros

Great people, made some really great friends that I will keep in touch with for the rest of my life. People are friendly and understanding and for the most part genuinely interested in helping and supporting each other.

      Cons

Growth opportunities were lacking. A lot of false promises and warped timelines for growth. A lot of it is due to budgets and dealing with New York (head office), but frustrating for people that deserve recognition for the hard work and long hours they put in. Work/life balance was also a little off. Yes this is advertising and people know that long hours come with the job.. but it seemed to me that some people were working significantly longer hours based on their skills which isn't fair. Some senior management played favourites. Found some discrimination based on historical work with the agency. Just because someone hasn't shown this ability doesn't mean they're not capable and shouldn't be considered.

      Pros

Things are happening at McCann. The deadwood is gone, and new great people have arrived, alongside with some interesting new clients. I think it will be some very interesting next few years at McCann, and I am very excited to be a part of it. As a part of IPG, McCann has great benefits. Also you can expect better than average PTO, and competitive salaries, and a brand new redesigned from scratch office.

      Cons

McCann used to be extremely old-school, and some people still think this.
