I worked at McCollisters Transportation Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Above average pay with decent benefits. Hard working employees outside of upper management.

    Cons

Nepotism runs wild. SVP fires quality people and replaces them with his untrained and unqualified family. Wake up Dan McCollister, fools are ruining your business.

    Advice to Management

A lot of people dedicated their lives to this company and were thrown aside when the board of UVL became more important. Don't let SVP's with their own agenda destroy what took many years to build. It took many people to help build this company, not just a few liars behind Dan's back.

I worked at McCollisters Transportation Systems full-time

    Pros

I had a great GM, and co-workers. The crews were so very nice and polite. I was able to do my job without anyone looking over my shoulder. When my husband was recovering from a major operation I was able to work from home during his home recovery. People in all branches had some amazing people.

    Cons

Upper management should ask advise from key people from each department on where improvements could be made.

    Advice to Management

Don't let go of your good people. Meet with staff in a more informal way. Keep working o your communication.

    Pros

Some of the people are nice and helpful, they provide good insurance benefits and occasionally a free lunch.

    Cons

Management is not consistent, Micro-managers in areas where they do not belong, many managers involved in the same jobs, each have a different approach and instruct to do something different. Some management is not qualified to be in their position. Good old boys club!

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate who is managing and their qualifications.

I have been working at McCollisters Transportation Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some employees work hard and are helpful and friendly.

    Cons

Upper management are far too disconnected from everyone. Big decisions are made without proper, well thought out planning and unproffesionally handled. Layoffs are far too frequent. Raises are NEVER. Meetings are too frequent. Lack of company structure.

    Advice to Management

Yearly 3-5 % raises. Recognize those who deserve praise company wide. Update the software. Stop laying people off who have worked hard for the company.

    Pros

This company has many long term, loyal and hardworking people. Many of them understand the business and can do a great job for their customers.

    Cons

The low margins of the transportation industry make it difficult to keep profits flowing. Unfortunately, many of the hard workers are not rewarded.

    Advice to Management

Travel expenses and sales bonuses and raises for management are basically making it impossible for the non managers to ever get more money.
