I worked at McCormick & Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Growth potential; recently acquired French's. Stock is performing well as a result. The company closes the week between Christmas & New Year which gives you an additional week of vacation. Good training courses offered by the Learning Development Center, even a three-day course in cooking "Flavor U". If you are a foodie, you can appreciate this company. Summer Fridays; Opportunity for board membership.

    Cons

Old office space but as of September 2018 the company is moving into a brand new building; its World Headquarters in Hunt Valley, MD. A lean organization. The company has been around for over 100 years however, they are not as advanced as they should be. New management is working to get them up to speed.

    Advice to Management

Keep advancing in systems to streamline processes and systems. Hire more people from other companies and increase the number of people to balance the workload.

I worked at McCormick & Company full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I can’t think of any pros

    Cons

Horrible place to work! No training, support, or coaching. Don’t care at all about their employees and show them no respect. Back stabbing mentality. Outdated systems. Preach diversity, but don’t back their words. No work/life balance. No opportunity to advance. The training/trainers are terrible ! I have never been made to feel more defeated or unsupported. I’ve heard that it’s a great company to work for, but...

    Advice to Management

How about caring about your employees’ well being, rather than treating them like nothing more than a number? How about actually practicing what you preach? How about spending some of the billions of dollars you make to actually supply employees with the resources they need? How about stopping nepotism and the “old boy” network and actually promote people who are willing to change the norm? How about stopping people...

I have been working at McCormick & Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Stability in the marketplace, new headquarters being built, internal opportunities, and not many after hour days(9-5). Benefits are decent and discounted stock after 1 year. The employees are really nice people and it is not a hostile work environment.

    Cons

There is nothing progressive in the US divisions. “Innovation” has been a yearly perpetual failure. Innovation comes to the company through acquisitions which then quickly suffer the corporate over-processes. Zero on-boarding or development. No accountability across functions. Poor performance is rewarded in most cases. Grossly underpaid vs other CPG companies given the high margins being made. Technology is 10...

    Advice to Management

There is an embedded cronyism at the management level which holds top performers and progressive ideas back or falsifies as their own work. There is a reason why many of the RB employees didn’t choose to come over to McCormick post acquisition and you see the high turnover at certain levels.

I have been working at McCormick & Company full-time for less than a year

      Pros

super leniant attendance and punishment, easy work, paid weekly

      Cons

Super low pay, inconsistant work, no clear guidline of authority, certain people have been complained about continously to managers for harrasment (sexual and otherwise) and belittling other employeesand managementdoes ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Leads(?) Get paid the same. Absolutely no room for growth.

      Advice to Management

Choose ONE specific person from each group(who can do basic math) and TRAIN THEM on how to be actual leads. And then tell every one else to shut the hell up. Thats why there are so many fights and nothing gets done, because in a group of 15 at least 7 of them think they are the leads.

I have been working at McCormick & Company full-time

      Pros

company is financially healthy. They make great stuff!!!

      Cons

Being slowly taken over by ex P&G management. rough transition. Lots of folks looking to advance instead of making the place a better place to work

      Advice to Management

spend more time on the plants running better than advancing your own career
