I worked at McCormick & Company full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great resume builder, plenty to learn and boost the skills on your resume.

    Cons

Absolutely terrible work/life balance. They don’t know how to give employees time off or manage workload. They take on every project that won’t make them money when they don’t have the resources to do it in the first place. Then they expect their employees to “make it work”. 60-70 hour weeks nearly every week, despite restrictions against that. Don’t expect them to hold up their Holiday Time because they will just over...

    Advice to Management

Your over the top meeting culture doesn’t promote anything except expenses while you pay for catering everyday. Listen to the resources that you claim you value, your employees. Uphold your “2 for 1” values, when you expect your employees to work their life away but office employees walk out at 3:30 on a Friday with a smug attitude.

I have been working at McCormick & Company full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Research and Development has a very good, creative, and supportive work environment.

    Cons

Very hierarchical, lacks true motive to develop scientists.

    Advice to Management

Pay the right people what they are worth, hire in people that are worth it, not just warm bodies to fill the seats while everyone else has to work harder to accommodate them.

Current Employee - Laboratory Technician III in Baltimore, MD

I have been working at McCormick & Company full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

A lot of employee benefits like extra paid time off.

    Cons

Management has a "hands off" attitude most of the time, do not interact with lower employees. Hard to move and grow as no-one ever leaves and new positions rarely open up.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at McCormick & Company full-time

    Pros

    Vacation pay, holiday time off

    Cons

No chance to advance from a Line technician job. It does not matter how many "extra" committees you are on or how the technician performance is judged. This is especially true for females. Once a line tech, always a line tech. If you are expecting to advance from a Line technican position this will not happen unless you are going to college. No formal on the job line training. Too many jobs are being awarded to outside...

    Advice to Management

PROMOTE FROM WITHIN before hiring Proctor and Gamble, Amazon or Unilever employees or have a diverse mix. More opportunites to advance from technician positions with adequate compensation if skills are proven before going outside the company
