I have been working at McCormick & Schmick's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

uhhh, i guess money if you are a solid server. managers are great

    Cons

tipping out a host, bartender or busser when there is none. paying 10 bucks a check for the honor to order food for half price. cuts in labor, then getting slammed with 40 minute ticket times. Lsc sales, the program is a joke. we get treated awful from a corporate standpoint. worst place i have ever worked.

    I worked at McCormick & Schmick's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits if you're full time- but they intentionally keep your hours below the 35 hr threshold to qualify.
    Work with professionals.

    Cons

Sales training is weak for such a large company.

    Advice to Management

Pay professional trainers more than an additional 40 cents/hr to train your sales force

    I have been working at McCormick & Schmick's part-time

    Pros

    There are no pros here.

    Cons

    Always over staffing shifts
Management could care less if you have a life outside of work
    No respect
    People steal each others tables
Only MEN get to be servers
All women hired as a "server" move into the bar as a cocktail waitress regardless of experience
Have to pay $10 every paycheck to be able to get 50% off food
Must sell A LOT of LSC cards or they think you're a bad server
By far the DIRTIEST restaurant I have ever worked at
So many people come and go that they're always needing to hire new people

    Advice to Management

    CHANGE!

    I worked at McCormick & Schmick's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I met some great people, and the pay was good (they want you to live there, so they bribe you with money). Also, being so crappy forced me to find a new career that is not food related.

    Cons

8 conference calls a week. In charge of new management trainees for the region and turnover is so so high there were always 8 or more people to try to wrangle. Weekly lsc call weekly one day on ones with trainees weekly regional checkup call for task force. Worse, these calls were at 8 am, even on your days off. Insane amounts of paperwork required. SIP for everything needed to be sent in. Upper management so full of themselves, spend the whole time in the office instead of observing. Expect FOH management to be in the kitchen doing prep work when chefs fail. Then, reprimand for not being on the floor. Overall ridiculous amount of micro management.

    Advice to Management

Back off and let your people do what they were hired to do.
