    Pros

Salaries and other benefits are ok.

    Pros

Pay is above average, little to no micro managing and job security for the upper echelon is good. Decent benefits.

Company cares not at all for their employee, only care about $. They avoid employing Americans in trade for cheap foreign labor

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Work and crew is great. Crew helps and supports you learning and expanding knowledge and experience. Pay is decent.
Location is offshore in the Gulf of Mexico

    Cons

Upper management and HR are terrible. No coordination. Doesn't care about marine crew. Company is struggling.

    Advice to Management

Fire all shoreside management and let the ships run themselves. No one in the office knows what they're doing. Management on ships is amazing, personal, and caring.

I worked at McDermott full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are plenty of people with 30+ years of experience that have a wealth of knowledge about the industry. If you are lucky you might snag someone like that as a mentor that can really broaden your horizons and kick start your career. It is difficult, especially because these same people are the ones that are always busy and tied up with complex projects.

    Cons

There isn't much room for advancement in your career. The pay is increased accordingly for the cost of inflation, but you rarely see an opportunity to "jump" into a new position. In reality this doesn't happen at most companies, but be aware that the progression is slow and really only available when someone leaves for another job or retires.

    Advice to Management

In the difficult times be sure to recognize the loyal employees who stick with McDermott. I have seen the hard times come and go at McDermott and the ones that stick through it rarely see any incentive to have done so.
