    Pros

Great people, supportive environment, lots of training, one of my best law firm experiences ever.

    Cons

Not as much work at the Menlo Park office, so lot of empty offices, and when people left, they weren't always replaced.

I have been working at McDermott Will & Emery full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    *Flexible work from home policy
    *Good insurance and 401k benefits
    *Transit pre-tax assistance
    *medical spending accounts
    *generous vacation

    Cons

*high stress environment supporting global law firm
*as staff you are sometimes supporting people who don't always grasp the limits set on you by the firm's policies.

    Advice to Management

Make it easier for your firmwide staff to work from anywhere / full time work from home in the future. It is one of the most attractive things being offered in IT at the moment, especially because it means you can stretch dollars further by moving to areas with lower costs of living. Other AMLaw firms are looking at this, especially for staff that are not direct support staff.

I worked at McDermott Will & Emery full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I honestly don't see why you would want to stay with McDermott. As noted in previous reviews, staffs are second-tier to attorneys and it's not the kind of culture that's conducive to learning and growing professionally. Personally, working at McDermott was a demoralizing experience overall that I wish to never to be a part of again.

    Cons

Toxic work environment. You are always cleaning up somebody else's work due to his or her laziness and incompetence. The HR is oblivious to what goes on in other departments behind closed doors. People here are unfriendly and take advantage of you, teamwork does not exist here. Furthermore, everyone complains about how much they hate the firm and their job. The values at this firm are off, for example, during the firm lunch get-togethers, everyone is after his or her own best interests, it all starts with some people just grabbing food and leaving to eat in his or her office, taking no time to get to know you as a person. In conclusion, this is a very selfish firm where the employees only care about themselves and use you.

    Advice to Management

Management is stuck in the past.

They have a lot of resources which make the job easier. Help is there when it's needed.

    Cons

It's a big law firm environment. Attorneys and staff really don't mingle. Has a stuffy feeling to it. Lots of older staff that aren't up to par on their skills.

I have been working at McDermott Will & Emery full-time

    Pros

I've work at the firm for 10+ years and MWE has always been good to me. Regular raises and bonuses. I've had one promotion and years ago had to be on an emergency medical leave and received full support from this firm. Through my life 's ups and down including divorce (a time when I KNOW I was not at my best) McDermott has been there for me. Thank you MWE!

    Cons

The pending move and major commute change for the Worse.

    Advice to Management

There have been some very obvious management changes and right now it does not appear to be a positive thing.

    Pros

Great firm with excellent reputation and hard working attorneys.

    Cons

Some people involved with Government Affairs consulting are in over their heads and don't understand the lobbying field. They're managing like a lawyer, not a government affairs specialist. Shows a real lack of understanding.
