    I worked at McDonald's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The training to management is actually quality. Environment depends due to such a global scale of stores. Decent pay for in between jobs. You will actually be rewarding for working hard and efficient, and the work is already super easy.

    Cons

The other employees. Employees will continuously gripe, whine and complain about even the most simplest of tasks. The environment is usually pretty rough, would not recommend for someone with alcohol or smoking addictions if they are trying to quite. Employees believe it is okay to come in high, drunk or both. I could go on and on about the employees so to sum it up, needs better hiring managers with a little more skill.

    Advice to Management

Be careful who you hire. Keep up the good work though, if regular employees think their job is difficult, there is a reason they're at their level and not yours.

    I worked at McDonald's part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

McDonald's provides thorough training for every element of the job and for every new sandwich that they introduce. Being promoted is easy if you are determined to follow procedure and learn to do your job to the fullest of your ability. In a managerial position, you have the power to promote good customer relations and ensure that your restaurant is enhancing the brand image of McDonald's. Most McDonald's are franchises and so it is not impossible meet your store owner and make suggestions for how you can improve your restaurant. Overall, there is no one aspect of a job at McDonald's that is particularly difficult and so this is a job for everyone. With many restaurants being open 24 hours, work schedules are incredibly flexible and so this makes McDonald's perfect for those looking for part-time supplemental income or students who are only available on weekends.

    Cons

The negative stigma against all minimum wage jobs is directed towards McDonald's in particular because they are the largest fast food chain. This creates a vicious cycle of perceived job insignificance which leads to poor job performance which leads to poor job satisfaction. Unfortunately, many restaurants succumb to this influence until it becomes a part of their culture and eventually becomes obvious to customers, which then adds to the negative stigma.

    Advice to Management

To the C-suite management of McDonald's, I would suggest that they publicly celebrate their workers to break the cycle of negativity. There are many workers who are exceptional brand representatives every single day but their influence is limited to those only those customer with whom they directly interact. This a wasted resource.

    I worked at McDonald's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Pay above minimum wage
    Friendly to customers

    Cons

Many managers seem to struggle under pressure. They can keep calm by being nice to customers but when customers are not near and they are busy, they tend to be rude to employees. These make me feel like I do not have potential. They mainly tend to not encourage me to do better.

    Advice to Management

Train managers and employees to be professional and respectful to each other. Even on the clock, you can see managers on their phones possibly while on the clock. Managers should be encouraging employees to do better instead of being rude to them.
