    Pros

Great attorneys, great clients, great staff, and great place to practice IP law.

    Cons

Nothing to complain about - thanks for the weekly bagels.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and the good benefits.

I worked at McDonnell, Boehnen, Hulbert & Berghoff full-time

    Pros

I made quite a few friends. Most people very nice. Firm had many outings and was not a hard place to work. Entry level OK, with room to learn. Decent starting salary for support. Very pleasant work environment.

    Cons

Company let go many people after the housing crash, abruptly. Those were not good times, with low morale for awhile. Not a lot of room for job advancement, only learning your current position better. Few pay increases.

    Advice to Management

It's been awhile, so no current advice except to not do a massive layoff all in one day. Plan better so this doesn't happen. I still liked it there a lot, and only left because there wasn't a ladder to climb. Would recommend at least for starting out.

    Pros

It's nice to be told you do good work and thank you on a daily basis. Raises above average.

    Cons

There was no training whatsoever for the staff. If you didn't learn it on your own, you'd never learn it. You really need to know I.P. Before you go work here.

    Advice to Management

Morale was low with the staff. Needed luncheons, definitely needed training. At least monthly staff meetings should have happened.

I worked at McDonnell, Boehnen, Hulbert & Berghoff (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great health benefits, free soda machines, bagels on Wednesdays. The staff are great and usually very friendly.

    Cons

The management of the department I worked in was terrible at communication and project management. This made starting and completing projects nearly impossible. When you don't have a timeline or cannot get any of your questions answered then you can't really do your job effectively. Previous management was very good at these things and projects were completed on time and with little to no issues once deployed. Our department was outsourced for a company that one of the named partners has a financial stake in.

    Advice to Management

Communicate clearly what the goals are, when completion dates are, and milestones.

I have been working at McDonnell, Boehnen, Hulbert & Berghoff full-time

    Pros

Friendly workplace. Great mentorship. Easy access to any partner. Support for continued career growth.

    Cons

There is always lots of work which can sometimes be stressful.

    Advice to Management

Maybe hold more lectures to teach newcomers different areas in IP practice and marketing strategies. For example, prosecution, litigation, licensing, obtaining new clients, etc.
