I have been working at McGladrey LLP full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Small community with many events. Friendly work environment with great potential to grow quickly. Ability to connect with clients even on the associate level.

    Cons

Lack of resources in some departments when working on projects never done before. Billing more hours sometimes appears more important than delivering quality work to client.

    Advice to Management

Compensate employees that are working far beyond the duties outlined in their job descriptions. Bonuses should be given during holiday season.

    Pros

3 different PPO options for healthcare. Great heath saving accounts matching benefit. Generous PTO.

    Cons

utilizing the full PTO is not realistic with the busy schedules. hours can be long and draining. all benefit package selection and enrollment is done online, and only help is thru a central HR that you email..

    Advice to Management

schedules need to be maintained better so that employees do not get burned out.

    Pros

Not the worst in the country. Can fare better. Initiatives galore. Implementation lags. Good management. Less political.

    Cons

Strives to be a Big 4. Need to carve a niche. Accept the situation and instead strive to provide the best possible work.

    Advice to Management

Take it slow and steady. Rome was not built in a day. Understand ranking 6th took a while. Moving up will also take some time.

I worked at McGladrey LLP full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good atmosphere to work in, most people are not pretentious. There is potential to be exposed to a high learning curve if one desires. At a midsized audit firm, junior staff quickly given more complex accounts to work on early on.

    Cons

Compensation lags slightly behind big 4 companies. Lots of turnover because new hires quickly realize they're getting paid less but working the same amount of hours vs their equivalent at big 4. At least with big 4, there's a brand name they can add to their resume, work on more big name clients, and interact with some of the brightest in the industry.

    Advice to Management

There's a need to invest in and develop your employees.
