I worked at McGladrey LLP full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people I worked with were great. Made an effort to promote work/life balance.

    Cons

The company was in transition for most of my 5 years. The pain of integrating small acquired firms into a national practice. Inconsistent direction and lack of clear focus.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to continue its effort organize itself and ensure consistent messaging from local leadership

I have been working at McGladrey LLP (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Very flexible workplace
You do not have one boss and work with many different people
Opportunity for advancement is very high
Partnership group is very development focused and has many learning and professional development opportunities.

    Cons

Salary adjustments between average and high performers are not that much different. Compensation plan is changing to reward performance more. I am looking forward to see if it actually does reward a high performer or not.
In comparison to other MPLS Big four offices, gym and health benefits are not offered to the same degree.
The feeling of just being another number takes place at times and can make you lose motivation.

    Advice to Management

Have more separation between high performance and average performance.

I worked at McGladrey LLP full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly people, lots of room for growth, respectable salary, treats you like an actual employee

    Cons

There is a lot of information and content to learn coming in as a student and management or co-workers may not always have time to help you when needed. There is no training program for short term workers like interns or coop students.

    Advice to Management

Provide a basic training program for interns/coop students- this will result in less needing of help or explanation from other co-workers or management and less misunderstandings

    Pros

Small community with many events. Friendly work environment with great potential to grow quickly. Ability to connect with clients even on the associate level.

    Cons

Lack of resources in some departments when working on projects never done before. Billing more hours sometimes appears more important than delivering quality work to client.

    Advice to Management

Compensate employees that are working far beyond the duties outlined in their job descriptions. Bonuses should be given during holiday season.

    Pros

3 different PPO options for healthcare. Great heath saving accounts matching benefit. Generous PTO.

    Cons

utilizing the full PTO is not realistic with the busy schedules. hours can be long and draining. all benefit package selection and enrollment is done online, and only help is thru a central HR that you email..

    Advice to Management

schedules need to be maintained better so that employees do not get burned out.
