    Pros

Good benefits, interesting work. The management seems to have our back, which is nice. Fast paced office which is also a plus

    Cons

Some of the vendors we work with are a bit difficult. Also wish that the office space had a bit more natural light

    Advice to Management

Continue to ask for staff input

    Pros

Noble Industry, making a difference through education

    Cons

Culture is non existent; no one talks to each other in the DPG group, not happy environment as they are all running around scared of the head guy, not nimble enough, can't get things out the door quick enough, communication about strategy does not get down to the teams

    Advice to Management

Deal with your arrogance & temper tantrums

I have been working at McGraw-Hill Education full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

3 weeks starting vacation for all, good free coffee, a giant combo ice machine and water machine with filtered water (yes it's potable...), lots of meeting rooms, nice clean bathrooms, people that respect your time and input, very inclusive to newcomers, very flexible with work-from-home and start/end times, competitive salary, great location right above Penn Station (no subways for LIRR or NJT), big cubes with comfy chairs, nice Cisco phone system, very active intranet, well articulated goals, good health benefits that priced right based on salary.

    Cons

Fake reviews like the previous one, it can get warm on the sunny side of the building, food around Penn can be hit or miss.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and do not listen to obvious fake reviews.

I have been working at McGraw-Hill Education full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexibility. Knowledgeable, smart co-workers, interesting projects with ample opportunity to make a big difference in others', as well as to grow the business and increase prophets.

    Cons

Do not have the capacity as a group to get large projects, work mostly on small, though often complex software, web site, and SEO & SEM strategies.

    Advice to Management

    Great culture.

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Los Angeles, CA

    Pros

Decent pay and nice team environment

    Cons

Code base is pure garbage. You'd end up maintaining a drowning-in-tech-debt software with almost no outlook to work on exciting new stuff. Also - don't be fooled by the IPO prospect, it's not happening, and if it does employees get nothing.

    Advice to Management

As others have said, realized that you are *not* a software company, but an education firm trying to do software. Do it correctly from the start.

I worked at McGraw-Hill Education full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Job security, nice offices, wonderful people, excellent cafeteria!

    Cons

Corporate speak abounds! Constant "pivot" and "nimble" words flung about. Also, too many managers, not enough workers.

    Advice to Management

There should be fewer layers - the whole corporation is top heavy with managers. Back when I started, it was like this and it collapsed in the recession. It's heading that way again.
