I worked at McGraw-Hill full-time for more than 19 years

    Pros

McGraw-Hill Education is a family-oriented organization and incredibly flexible creating a solid work/life balance. Collaboration between colleagues and the leadership team is a real positive. Management does not micromanage employees. Rather, you are treated as professionals and trusted to complete your work in a timely and accurate manner. The work we do at MHE is noble. We provide educational materials for instructors...

I have been working at McGraw-Hill full-time for more than 19 years

    Pros

I have worked with McGraw-Hill for 10+ years and they have been good to me. Some of the perks the company offers are a great Work/Life balance, generous vacation/personal time, 401K with matching up to a specific percent, vision/dental/health benefits which include outside resource partnerships such as dependent care support, attorney assistance and other low to no cost resources, flexible scheduling considerations,...

    Cons

Industry shifts mean the company must find a balance between progressing product and sales with budgets and operational costs.

    Advice to Management

Continue to recognize talent, remain transparent by communicating pending changes when able or known.

I have been working at McGraw-Hill full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The benefits, w/l balance, salaries, and people, are some of the best I have seen and worked with. This alone makes the company a great place to be, for now.

    Cons

Dealing with market pressures and a transforming industry can be challenging. Future of industry & company are likely unknown.

    Advice to Management

Be more transparent about overall corporate strategy & direction.

I worked at McGraw-Hill full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Very bright and friendly worker bees who provided the tools would accelerate the painfully slow digital transformation.

    Cons

Minorities are lacking in senior leadership positions. Incompetent senior leadership across the board. Who would work there unless they couldn't land a job elsewhere?

    Advice to Management

Need more younger and innovative leaders. Ditch anyone over 50! Hire more leaders from other thriving organizations who can actually execute.

I have been working at McGraw-Hill full-time for more than 19 years

    Pros

excellent benefits on paper pleasant work enviornment growth and development depending on department is excellent

    Cons

managers have a lot of flexibilty to define how you use vacation and sick time so while the manual says you have for example 72/80 hours of sick time managers in select departments state if you use more than 1 day (8hrs) its excessive. The manual says you can use sick time to care for immediate family, I think there was even a law passed related to this but it is frowned upon. Most of the offices are state of the...

I worked at McGraw-Hill full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

It was once a great company in a great industry doing great things with a great purpose. There is still some of that left, but it's vanishing rapidly.

    Cons

The company actually seems to WANT people to leave. For example, it paid no bonuses for anyone n fiscal 2018, regardless of performance. So employees who are bonus-eligible are being told year after year that the guy next to you let you down, so we're (get this) going to punish YOU TOO! EVEN IF they had a massive sales increase! That Takes Balls Man! I think the owner actually wants people to leave rather than...

    Advice to Management

Doomed. Get out while you still can. Take a job elsewhere and get of this ship. The iceberg has been struck, but the band is still playing, trying to calm the passengers.
