I have been working at McGraw Insurance full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people are the most friendly, loyal, and fun loving you will ever work with. They are family oriented and make you feel part of the family.

    Cons

The owners' vision - not so much. There is a feeling of lack of direction and the sense of value for their work force is visibly in high demand.

    Advice to Management

Get to know your work force. They are more than willing to engage and share best practices to truly make the company a better place to work for.

I worked at McGraw Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits and decent pay. Vacation time, paid time off and great 401k. Good team and good people, knowledge staff.

    Cons

Worst managers I have ever had, hands down completely unprofessional and bad attitude. There's absolutely no chance that you'll be promoted or even noticed by anyone unless you are related to someone or you kiss a lot of butts. Managers barely even speak to you and treat you like you're not a human being, make you feel like to you are an inconvenience if you have a question. Organization is non-existent and so is communication. Managers disclose personal information regarding other employees so nothing you say is confidential. They have a ancient computer system that makes your job 20x harder than it should be.

    Advice to Management

They need to replace all upper management with people who aren't biased and favor people they like.

I worked at McGraw Insurance (More than a year)

    Pros

Good Benefits (dental, vision, medical, life, 401K) and cheap to afford. Competitive pay, with lots of opportunity to move up if desired! Lots of perks like monthly lunches, weekly rewards via gift cards, you can tell the company really cares about employees.

    Cons

You will be competing with peers who have been there for over 10 years. Many peers tend to stay and move up,so if looking for fast advancement this might not work for you unless your willing to put in some major milestones!

    Advice to Management

Definitely need more organization in regards to work ethic and training.

    Pros

Co-workers, that's pretty much it. There isn't any "Pros" in working here. It is really a joke of a company.

    Cons

Management has no directions. Lies. If you are good at what you are doing, they will give you more work to punish you for being efficient.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect and stop your lies. Everybody knows the company will be sold soon so just be upfront with everybody.

I worked at McGraw Insurance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Claims was a great place to learn and grow individually. A lot of industry knowledge throughout the company. If you can make it here you can make it anywhere. Great people to work with usually were not managers.

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations. Case loads were next to impossible to manage without having overtime which was refused. Toxic, abusive work environment. Management does not utilize team member feedback. Impersonal treatment of employees. Do not feel valued as an employee. There is huge turnover due to I believe employee mistreatment & unrealistic expectations.

    Advice to Management

Become more oriented with team members. Invest more into the employees. Make the work environment more positive and healthy. Employees that do not have a voice will continue to leave. Make sure systems work before they are implemented or rolled out to the company. Claims relies on the services to work properly to help our customers. If our systems are inefficient then we cannot service the needs of our customers when they have claims. Complaints will go down when management does their job better. Stop blaming the claims adjusters for all the problems.

I have been working at McGraw Insurance full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

McGraw does provide a decent 401(k) package, although you are required to work there for ten years to be fully vested. They also started charging $300 a year service fee on their retirement accounts.

    Cons

A toxic work environment, sweat-shop conditions, abusive management, nepotism, and general disrespect for their employees makes McGraw the worst company I have worked for in over 30 years. Dealing with the policyholders and brokers was the worst part of the job, since it was an endless stream of valid complaints against the company.

    Advice to Management

I would appeal to the shareholders to remove the CEO and replace all management in the Anaheim office with qualified and professional individuals, but the company is family owned and poorly run even at the corporate level.
