I have been working at McKee Foods full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

PEOPLE, hands down. Best company I've worked for. Generous, caring, family -oriented. Long-tenure, solid career for anyone willing to work hard and learn. Focus on people, safety and quality above the bottom line.

    Cons

Higher turnover now for new employees with the younger generation and different work ethic.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work - listening to people and providing an excellent place to work.

I have been working at McKee Foods as an intern (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There could be even more corn syrup and trans fats in the products than currently exists.

    Cons

Discriminately applies hard pressure on employees with political views that do not fall in line with those of the communist Radical Left. Has resulted in the firing of a good employee whom I had the pleasure to work with.

    Advice to Management

Keep your noses out of the private lives and opinions of your employees. If you think this boycott is going away, you're sadly mistaken. My circle of Facebook friends is all over the Internet spreading the word.

I have been working at McKee Foods full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There used to be two many to list, but in the last several years the Cons far out weigh the Pros.

    Cons

Many decisions are made in a vacuum without the input from those directly involved.
Even when on PTO you are still asked to work,.
You never know when you will be asked to work out of town for extended periods of time. Even if you have plans with your family, appointments, commitments you are expected to go and change your life.
Direct manager is more of a dictator than a manager.
Even though, the company has an "open door" policy that is not the case.

    Advice to Management

Management needs more training and it should be the same across the country. Get away from micro managing and employees will be much happier!

I have been working at McKee Foods as a contractor

    Pros

As long as I consistently service all my customers, I can pretty much set my own hours.

    Cons

Products I get from McKee have shorter shelf life than my main competition, presenting challenges at times. As a 1 man contracted company, I will never be able to take week long vacations without hiring a full-time person to do everything from loading a trailer, ordering product from the bakery, selling into stores, rotating product at every stop -every visit, driving my rig ( requires a CDL for my oversized rig). Also cost of healthcare is over the top for single people in open market when you don't qualify for subsidies.
